Can I save a modified canned tune as another tune?
I have the U7135. Reason I ask is that I'm pretty happy with my 91 CAI tune for my Jeep, but have adjusted WOT Fuel and timing settings after a number of trips to the drag strip w/ positive results. I currently have r17.
Thing is if future updates come out, how do I know that the canned tune is not changed and doing the same settings to Fuel/timing will have the same effect as r17 tune?
I'd like to be able to mess with any new version but have the modified r17 91 CAI tune available as a available tune on the menu. Is it possible? Save to downloader...rename?

Yes, export the last tune written, and reload it to the Predator as a custom tune.
Thanks
Thanks

Everytime I try to export last written tune the tool just times out, but I was able to save my original backup without any problems. Any ideas?

Not sure....did you have a tune installed in the car?
Are you using the latest DSDownloader?
Thanks

RE: Can I save a modified canned tune as another tune?
I modified a custom tune for a higher idle, wrote it to the car, then saved it to my laptop.
I then downloaded off the Predator to my laptop, the currently written tune, renamed it and reloaded it in to my Predator (which currently has SEVEN tunes loaded as custom, one of them the stock tune), selected that reloaded tune, told it to default all the modifications and wrote it again. In that process, I lost the higher idle.
What did I do wrong? Does defaulting the modifications reset the saved changes? I was concerned that those changes would be applied twice, if I didn't default them.
I'm on R17 and used the following version of the Downloader:

If we save our own custom tunes, then upgrade to the next software version, will the saved tunes work with the new software version?

Not sure what happened here, but I will say there may be an issue with having too many tunes on the tool.jaak wrote:I modified a custom tune for a higher idle, wrote it to the car, then saved it to my laptop.

Why anyone would need 7 custom tunes is beyond me. I would cut back to 5 at the most.
Now, you wrote a high idle tune to the car, exported last tune written, then reloaded that to the Predator?
If so, the high idle should have remained. Try it again if it did not.
Thanks

RE: Re: RE: Can I save a modified canned tune as another tun
Thanks Mike, I'll try it and report back.
Seven tunes? Normally, no, I won't need that many, but when doing tunes by email, it's easiest to take a series of tweaks, and then select the next one, based on what was seen on the previous. So loading them all in makes life much easier... For example, both fuel and timing tweaks, and when you build a very small tree of options, depending on the outcome of each, you gather a fair number of tunes.
Of course, once things are nailed down, I'll likely have less than 5 tunes loaded in. The car's a daily driver, so basically a regular tune, winter tune and track tune.
I will try it again on the weekend, without so many loaded.

I am also having trouble with Import/Export. In my case, I have gotten an error message that my custom tune is invalid on entering the performance tune area. You cannot proceed past it either. I rebooted the tool, went to custom tunes, deleted it, and then rebooted. Works fine again.
I will play with it some more and post my results. It could just as easily be me screwing up, but not sure how, I'm fairly Geekish on this

RE: Re: RE: Can I save a modified canned tune as another tun
I haven't tried the Import/Export functions on the Predator menu, just been using the downloader.
Seems like it has a max of eight tunes. Tried loading 9 and it chopped off the last one, even though the downloader showed 9.

Same thing is happening to me. I keep getting a "custom tune" error and use the custom tune delete to unlock my predator.XERyder wrote:I am also having trouble with Import/Export. I upgraded to latest downloader version and I'm using the express tune tab to copy to computer and rewrite to predator as a custom tune.
I was changing file names of tune and thought that may be it, but also tried the default tune name and still no luck.
Oh, also tried the CMR button and no good.
ARGHHHHH

Also tried the Advanced tune tab and no luck. Same outcome....when I plug into my Jeep it say's I need Downloader version greater than 1.7.????? and then says "custom tune error". I'm using the latest version on the website, and downloader is successful at transferring tune to Predator, at least it says it is.
This is the exact same error I am getting, and is frustrating. What is happening. I am on R17 2007 300C SRT8 - Export model Australia.BILLS2006JEEP wrote:Also tried the Advanced tune tab and no luck.
