Now I have only had the chance to use the Diablo tune, so my question is, what are the differences between the Diablo tune and the specific octane tunes? Also, do you recommend a certain octane for the diablo tune?

Diablo tune vs octane tunes
First off, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love the intune for my 2010 dodge charger sxt, it really made that V6 come alive! I have had no issues with it whatsoever! I can't wait till you crack the 2011+ Dodge PCM and can start looking into tunes for the Dodge Dakota.

Diablo tune is for 93 octane. The other ones are for their indication octane.

Since you have the Diablo tune loaded make sure you are using 93octane fuel. I went with the 91 octane tune. 93 has enough ethanol in it and you will not have to worry about not finding 93 on long trips. I have been places where the highest you can get is 91. Just a suggestion.

Need a 94 octane tune, plenty of sunoco stations out Here carry it heck I can get 100 octane down the road
but its like 9.99 a gallon
RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
93 and 94 tunes would be the same. Sunocos 94 isn't all that great.
Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
Fortunately I was using 91 octane when I posted it, but immediately tuned the charger to 91 due to the same reason. I just traveled from MI to MN this past week and didn't want to hunt around for 93 octane while traveling 800 miles.Hewithnoname wrote:Since you have the Diablo tune loaded make sure you are using 93octane fuel. I have a 2010 5.3 Chevy Silverado so whatever tune I tune my truck to i put in the same octane gas? Will this effect my vehicle at all?
RE: Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
Yes. The 91 octane tune can be used on 91 or higher. The "Diablo Tune" is for 93 or higher. Thats RON+MON/2 octane (as used in the US). It equates to 95 and 98 octane RON in Europe, the MidEast and where ever else.

RE: Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
you dont think switching octanes will mess up the vehicle? cuz i have been running regular in my truck since i bought it and i have 30k miles on it, thats just what i have heard. So i thought i would ask
RE: Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
No. The tunes are designed to use the higher octanes. They'll cause knock if you use lower octane then they're designed for.

cuz i had no idea honestly i had a trinity for a month and i didnt run the correct octance damn hope i didnt mess anything up
RE: Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
Engine knock. Preignition. Its when the air/fuel mixture ignites at the wrong time. It can destroy pistons.
I doubt you did any damage though. The computer will pull timing when it detects knock so nothing gets damaged. I'm not sure how much timing GM allows the computer to pull, but unless you were really hammering on it, you probably weren't even close to that amount.

So you dont think i messed up my engine do you, but does the intune have the capability of reading check engine lights and resetting them?
RE: Re: RE: Diablo tune vs octane tunes
Yes, and you can log you knock and knock retard to see if you're getting any detonation. Eventually it will have a tech tool capability like the dealers have, I hope we get TCM support before that, it was promissed at release.
