2006 Grand Prix GXP Info

Post by BkGXP »

I just picked up my InTune tuner today and am curious as to what the biggest difference is between the 91 Octane tune and the Diablo Tune. I have had a hard time finding exact HP gain numbers as well as what else changes between the two tunes. Any help is apreciated! Thanks :D

The Diablo tune has 2 degrees more timing and is for 93 octane gas. The 91 tune is for 91 octane. Thats the only difference.

Thanks for your help! Now here In canada no one has 93 octane gas unless you run husky ethanol blended gas. This is my First V8 Naturally Aspirated car and I am more used to Turbocharged engines. I have heard Ethanol blended fuels aren't very good for N/A engines. Should I be sticking with the 91 tune instead of the Diablo?

Best bet is to try them both, and log both. See what happen with your knock retard on the Diablo Tune. If its stays down, you're good to use it. If it goes up, then try the 91 tune and see what happens.

a little ethanol in the gas is commonplace... here in CT, we have 10% ethanol in our gas, which is common across the U.S. (yes, there are some places with NO ethanol in their gas, but not many)

if you use GOOD gas, like mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco, bp, or chevron, you'll have no issues... do NOT use Shell gas!

now, if you use good gas, and you use 91 octane gas, then use the 91 Octane Tune.... if you use 93 octane gas, then use the Diablo Tune...

Okay sounds good I'll give my next tank a try on 93 Octane with the 93 Tune. I currently have a CAI and muffler delete on the car, would it bennefit from a custom tune noticeably more than the tunes included? Or would the standard tunes be very similar?

A custom tune is much cleaner running than a standard tune, but Diablo is building ONE tune for every vehicle in the vehicle/engine segment and a custom tune is tuned to your vehicle.
