Speedo Fix Troubles 2006 Mustang GT

Post by Wide »

Hey Guys,
I purchased a U7140, Tuesday (3-6-07), to correct the speedometer on our 2006 Mustang GT, automatic, after installing a Motive 4.10 ring gear & pinion.
I am a long time customer and have enjoyed the Diablo chip in our 2000 Ford Lightning.

My problem is when installing the tune for the speedo fix "by the book" it corrected the speedo but turned on the engine lights (the outline of the engine and the wrench lights).

I then proceeded to use the diagnostic feature of the Predator to see what this meant. It gave me 3 codes....

P060c "unknown"
P1000 OBD II monitor testing incomplete
P2106 Throttle forced limited power

so being the almighty code killer I am, I tried clearing the codes with the Predator and it said they had been cleared........but they weren't.

I called the tech hot line today (3-7-07) and talked to Mike (nice guy), per his suggestion I disconnected the battery, turned on the headlights and waited 15 mins., reconnected the battery and it turned all the codes off except the P2106.

I have now reinstalled the factory tune and it works fine except we are back to square 1. Speedo not correct.

Help.......please.

I will pass this info along to our Ford tuners and have them test the issue here.
I dont recall if I got your calid today, but if you could post it here, that would be great.

Thanks

We are going to test this here on the bench today.
I'll let you know what we find.

Can you confirm something here for me please....
Apparently, if you had the Original backup in the PCM, and you had 4.10 gears in the rear end, the wrench light would still come on. Please go into the Predator and choose 'reset parameters', then reinstall the original backup to the vehicle.
Go drive it and let me know if the wrench light comes on or not.

Thanks

I did put the original "OEM" tune back in, but... I went to 'Performance Tune' then chose 'original Back-up', I drove it and no lights came on.

I asked my wife if any lights came on today, she said "no".

If 'reset parameters' is different then I'll give it a whirl.

I had the gear put in at the same time as a warranty replacement of the diff. clutch pack at our local ford dealer. (seems the 06 mustangs have a prob with noisey diff clutches after about 4k miles)

If they had a light come on and cleared the codes before I took delivery they didn't say.

They told me they "could not calibrate the speedo because ford had only emission tested two gear ratios, the 3.31 for the automatic and the 3.55 for the manual and that they had no way of calibrating an aftermarket gear set other than the 3.31 and 3.55 at this time."
