RE: Heads/cam
The only safe solution for a Heads/Cam car is to have a custom tune done from any of our CMR dealers.
The canned tunes are not designed for use with ported heads/aftermarket cams and will result in a dangerous lean condition.
You can either take the car to one of our CMR dealers and have it tuned, or email them a copy of the backup file and have them create a new tune and email it back, then check it with a wideband.
Thanks

RE: Heads/cam
I would not suggest running any of the tunes until you get to a dyno.
Thanks

RE: Heads/cam
why do we need to have someone else tune our cars when some of us are willing to try it ourself. It somewhat sucks shelling out more cash when all we need is the know how on working with the programmer?
RE: Heads/cam
How about because there are things that the CMR tuners can change that you can't? And they know enough not to blow up your motor.
Re: RE: Heads/cam
So what your saying is that CMR is the only one capable to tune our cars correctly with a programmer that was meant to do such that. Sorry bud, but I'm not buying it. If anyone wants to tune their car with out being charged for it he or she should be able to do so. Before the computers taking over the car, I used a screw driver, wrench and a timing light to tune my car and I never blew up my car. Maybe cause I was shown on what it takes to tune the car unlike this tuner. We come a long way since then but I still like to do my our work to my car as much as possible cause I know I could do it IF I was shown how.Mike_Levy wrote:How about because there are things that the CMR tuners can change that you can't? RE: Re: RE: Heads/cam
How would you know how to tune it without the use of a dyno to show you on screen where to make the adjustments?? I'll bet you're capable of using the device but without the dyno you're only guessing. That's why it has to go to a shop because without the dyno, they'd be guessing too. Remember, every car is different especially after motor work. No email tune for you.

You can always sell your predator if you don't like it. I would gladly pay $ 2000 just to be able to have a programer for my DR like you have for your car!!! I'm tired of hearing how unhappy some people are that they can't have everything for free!!! You almost sound like our budy hemisport 78. Just be thankfull for what you have that other people don't!

"""""""well, i just got off the phone with my local CMR dealer.. super nice guy.
he confirmed my suspicions....that my predator model is VERY limited on what it can do....but he says he can load his custom tune into my predator after tuning my truck on the dyno.... and it will only cost $300-$400
thats not too bad
this is the most versatile handheld tuner out now, dont get me wrong.... but if you want more than a cold air kit and a muffler, you are limited on the fine tuning you can do...
i just thought you folks with GM trucks would like this knowledge. i would have liked to know this when i was reading about all the parameters i could adjust with my predator.... i kinda thought i could custom tune it to what i needed..... wrong again! i have access to a buddy's dyno...but cant change enough with timing or anything really important for it to matter..
oh well, i am happy for now.... i am keepin my tuner, so i can download the tune from my CMR dealer....and return it to factory for warranty work...
i guess i am done bitchin for now.
yall be good, ya hear""""
this is something i posted a while ago on the GM forum, just thought you would like it. i am not "brand loyal"....i just like everyone to be aware of facts.
good luck to you guys with those bad ass srt8's.......and let me know when they put trailer hitches and towing packages on them, i will trade my truck in!!
peace.

Chill out atttaboy......No one forcing you on these threads little boy. No one said that they are not happy with the tuner. I love mine and its to bad you can't experience it yourself. What some of us are looking for is to tweak it a little more to squeeze out that extra hp. But when I ask question about some the PIDs on what it does.....and all I get is a response that they can't tell you cause it part of a tuning package...it gets one thinking. I will most likely get CMR to tune my car in the near future, that's if and when they come to my area but until then I will continue my search and ignore your insipid comments next time.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Heads/cam
I'm not the one throwing the tantrum! They make CMR for dealers to tune with. People that know what their doing. They make sure your motor doesn't blow and should take responsibility if it does! If you have heads and a cam and are trying to run them with stock diablo tunes get ready to be installing a new motor! Please see L X forums It should become perfectly clear! Been their done that had one shop rebuild my motor for free already because of poor tuning! But bitching about how diablo is screwing you because they want to try to save you from yourself is unnecessary and unproductive! Suck it up Big Boy kick down $300- $400 for an email tune to at least get you into the ballpark so you don't blow your engine!gsrt-8 wrote:Chill out atttaboy......No one forcing you on these threads little boy. Re: RE: Heads/cam
Well, that's not possible for me over in Germany. I have to data log and send in for an email tune. How shoud I go about doing that? I have to run one of the tunes, which is the safest or what do you suggest?mikel wrote:I would not suggest running any of the tunes until you get to a dyno.

I was told by someone in the LX community to select one of the canned tunes and add 5% fuel to all perameters until I got a tune.

Re: RE: Heads/cam
I wouldn't load any of the canned tunes - PERIOD, with the addition of any internal engine modifications. The canned tunes are off the shelf performance tunes which cater to stock and near stock engines. Anything else other than what is allowed, you run the risk of blowing up your engine.daddystoy wrote:Well, that's not possible for me over in Germany. Your best bet is to get a dyno run and log as much data as you can without any tune loaded and forward that info through to a CMR dealer. If you get stuck there is a guy in Australia that will be able to help you out.
Contact RDP Motorsport (Steve) and he can explain what you need to do and what info he needs.
Their details can be found here:- http://www.redcliffedyno.com/redcliffedyno/
