WOT Fuel Spark Settings

Post by 1500VHO »

Hi,

I've been working with 06Monte over at the SilveradoSeirra forum, but don't want to keep burdening and bothering him with questions... So...

I have a 2005 Silverado VHO with the LQ9 6.0L engine, 4L65E trans, 3.73 gears with Traction Control. I bought a T1000 InTune for it. I also upgraded the InTune, and according to the files I have 3 upgrades loaded. I don't know what was changed, but that is not the question.

I do not have the choice of 93 Octane, 91 Octane tune. If I do a tune it takes me to a menu with lots of questions. Monte told me about COT and CAG.

Questions:

1) I'm asked about WOT Fuel rates and it gives me 3 choices. Which one do I use?

2) I'm also asked about WOT Spark. Again it gives me the same three choices. Which one to choose from?? I'm totally lost :(

I'm going to get a "custom" tune from 06Monte... But would like to know what these two parameters are talking about...

Thanks in advance for your time

BTW - I did read the "Quick Start" manual, and Downloaded the "Manual" for 99-2012 GM Trucks. No where does it talk about these two items...

you won't have those tunes for trucks... you will have an 87 octane tune... and a Diablo Tune (which is a 91+ octane tune)... and if your truck has DOD/AFM, you should also have a MPG Booster Tune - which is not a "performance" tune, it's meant mainly for better mileage using the AFM/DOD...

sounds like you're going in to try and modify the tune, and you're getting the 3 rpm ranges for WOT... is that correct??

there's no need to modify the tune.. just select a tune to install, and when its asks you if you want to modify it, select the red X for NO... and then just install the tune as-is... no need to change those WOT parameters...

Thanks Monte!!

I did not touch those parameters... And the ranges are for rpm??? That makes some sense I guess...

And you are right. All I get is the 87 Octane tune, which I disregard...

Actually I enter the Diablo tune menu... It gives a lot of changes. One change I did make was the rims/tire size. 275/55-20 did not "seem" to be loaded as stock...

I'm also playing with the tranny shift stuff... It gives just "Normal" or "Tow/Haul mode"... I know that the Tow/Haul mode changes RPM shift points and firmness... Not as easy as Hypertech Max...

I know you'll get me going in the right direction.

Thanks again...

Does the intune know the size of rims, tires? Does it matter if that parameter is set or not? I have always set that, but will it make a difference?

if you changed the tire size from stock, you gave to tell it, if not, no need to make any changes there.

Thanks

well, my stock rims are 275/60R 20's, but that is not what reads on the tuner. it says something like 260-265
