Limp Mode Issues

Post by MotoAce51 »

Can someone explain what Stock / Mode 1 / Mode 2 are in the transmission control? Everything just says it is just different parameters. But really how are they all different?

My issue is that I keep hitting Limp Mode when I play around. Today after work I lit them up a little and when I let the brake off and started to move forward the car tripped into limp mode. It was an epic fail. This is the first time I ever had an issue in this type of scenario. My rev limiter was set at 6600rpm so I doubt that was it. But what can I do so this doesn't happen again?

I drive a 06 Charger RT. I had the tuner set to Mode 1. I really don't know the difference between Mode 1 and Mode 2. But when I had the Predator I usually had better luck in Mode 1. Mode 2 seemed to be delayed when I would shift causing the RPM's to be higher.

can you confirm that you have no issues with the stock auto stick setting enabled?

This is not a common issue by any means...

When I have it set to stock I have no issues. I tested this theory a couple times today and it worked as expected. Instead of hitting limp mode the car would shift. It does shift early in the stock setting but it doesn't kick into limp mode. I like the higher rev before shifting in Mode 1 but if you are just off by a split second it kicks into limp.

In my case i never mess around with the autostick, even, if i could totally disable it, i would, its part of my tranny issue so far, i'd recomend using the stock mode...less fun but, tranny trouble sucks!

I know this is an old post, but I recently bought an Intune as well for my 06 Magnum R/T. When I punched it in 1st, it hit somewhere around 6,000 RPM and the transmission popped into limp mode. I was on my way up a hill with cars behind me, so they weren't too happy when I had to stop, put it in park, turn the car off and back on. I thought it was an odd occurrence, but the other day merging onto the highway in 2nd, I opened it up, tires spun on a wet spot and hit limp mode again. My setting is on Mode 2. If I leaved it in drive, transmission works awesome, would be nice if the autostick didn't put it into limp mode. I've never had the issue with the stock transmission setting, probably because if you try to hold it in gear, it shifts anyways.

This is a really old post, but I would love to hear the answer for this, having the same issue.

I would just data log, get it to go into limp mode, and send the info to Johan. I'd say he could figure out what's going on pretty quick.

I thought the TCM had a set rpm at which it will go into limp mode. Rev limiter has to be set below that or it'll hit limp mode every time.
