how to lower temp using Fan Control
how to lower temp using Fan Control
i want to get my temp down using the Fan ajustments, can someone explain how to get that done PLEASE?
do you need to ajust all the temp ranges?
what percentage of fan do you change at the very first setting under Fan Control...
the process of lowering you're car's temp, using the Fan Control settings could use step by step instructions. PLEASE
some of us are not so InTune savay,

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
increasing the values makes the fan run at a higher duty cycle (speed) at that given temp range.

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
so you're saying to , increase the values all the way ....on ALL the temp ranges to get a lower temp?
Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
The temperature won't go down unless the thermostat opens sooner. If you're running a stock T-stat, turning the fans on at a higher rate will do you no good, because theres no coolant circulating at lower temps to cool the engine.

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
besides that, we have already increased the values inthe provided tunes to optimize cooling with the stock stat.
Changing the fan settings without changing the stat will only run the fans harder, without cooling the car any more.
Thanks

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
Makes sense about the thermostat. So follow up question: can the inTune adjust for a 160F thermostat? Agree adjusting % duty cycle on fans is not direct relation to the t-stat.
I understand laptop based tuners have a special setting for the thermostat type. Story goes that a lower t-stat without special ECU setting leads to an error code check engine light.
I have a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT (6.0L, LS gen IV engine). Stock t-stat is 186F maybe 190F.

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
The Intune will allow you to start the fan at a lower temp and also adjust the speed of the fan: i.e. 196* @ 25%, 199* @ 35%, 203* @ 50% and so on. Just keep in mind that 90% is the maximum fan speed, some have fried the fan connector by setting the speed at 100% My coolant temp remains the same at highway speeds, but it will keep the temps. down in stop and go traffic. With the oem tune, my coolant temps would be around 217* - 224* in city driving and 192*- 198* on the highway. With the Intune and fan duty cycle adjusted, 207*- 214* is the temp in stop and go traffic and on the freeway the same as oem tune. Anything lower you would need to change the T-stat and adjust the fan duty cycle further.

I have a 2006 corvette base A6 with CAI and now, a 160 stat..

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
do i need to re-program my fan setting now?
If i do, can you tell me what to set the percentages at for the fan setting?

Re: how to lower temp using Fan Control
I do not have a 160* T-stat so I do not know the recommended values. Maybe re-post asking for "recommended fan setting for 160 T-stat" might help.
