It sounds like many have felt a slight drop in performance with the newest revision, R18. That being said, I may just stick with one of the older, allegedly more aggressive revisions.
My question is this... were some of the earlier revisions so aggressive that they were borderline dangerous for the engine??? I know some changes were made to the KR, etc... in the latest revison. If that were the case, I would be endangering my hemi by sticking with one of the older revisions. I'm interested in maximizing performance, not damaging the engine...
Please advise me on the SAFETY of R18 vs. some of the earlier revisons...
No major mods, by the way...
R17 vs. R18

RE: R17 vs. R18
The only difference that was done to the tunes where the idle spark areas which caused a surge on some vehicles, WOT tuning is the same between the two.
They are both just as safe tune wise.

I would not suggest running any of the tunes until you get to a dyno.
Thanks
Well, that's not possible for me over in Germany. I have to data log and send in for an email tune. How shoud I go about doing that? I have to run one of the tunes, which is the safest or what do you suggest?
I was told by someone in the LX community to select one of the canned tunes and add 5% fuel to all perameters until I got a tune.
Mods:
Comp 260 cam
Mopar CAI
Flowmaster exhaust
180* thermo
JBA headers
6.1 springs and pushrods
Posted this question elsewhere with no response. Can someone chime in here? Thanks

RE: R17 vs. R18
I would say start with about +15% fuel....better safe than sorry.
Get it to a dyno if possible, or look into a wideband O2 sensor.
Start with the Performance CAI tune.
Thanks

RE: R17 vs. R18
Thanks for the feedback Mike. That's exactly what I will do. I will be getting a wide band and also getting a custom CMR email tune real soon. I just wanted something to tide me over until then. Thanks again

Hey Daddy,
as a suggestion check in to Promotion tuning in Va. They have done a lot of in house dyno work on a lot of LX cars with various heads and cam packages and I would be willing to get you sorted out real quick.
Get the WB that way you can get your tables adjust as needed for the WOT tables.
James and Dave are good guys
