Intune updated, but constantly says it needs updating

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was on the 91 Octane tune. Had to go into the dealership as engine light was on and they updated the PCM.

Tried to check to see if my 91 Octane tune is still in effect and when I connected the intune to the car it stated and update was needed. Updated the Intune but everytime I connect it to the car it says it needs to be plugged into a PC to be updated!!

Can anyone help!

did you restore original backup to the vehicle first before you went to the dealer I hope????

and the message you are getting means that the CAR needs an update, not the tool....

No I was unaware they would be updating the PCM so I never restored it.

What do I need to do to get my 91 Octane tune back? Is there anything I can do?

How would I update my vehicle then?

I don't want to hijack the thread here, but this response concerns me about how the Intune works. I realize that the OP did not return his car to stock and that his ecu was updated by the dealer to a newer "stock" file and that the "last tune written" no longer matches what is on the ecu, which is likely causing the problem, correct?

Based on the response here I am now under the impression that the Intune has the ability to determine whether or not the car is running the most current stock file from the manufacturer. Maybe I am just misunderstanding exactly what is happening?

When you are saying the "CAR needs the update, not the tool" it concerns me that since the Intune autoupdates itself every time I connect it to the computer to download datalogs, is it possible that I would lose functionality of the device should GM release a newer "stock" file than what is currently stored on my device. Or is this simply the case that the "last tune written" files doesn't match the ecu.

I guess my concern is that while I like the fact that the Intune checks and updates itself on one hand... on the other since everything is working as I want it to currently I wish I could shut that functionality off. Any chance of us getting the ability to stop the autoupdate in the future?

Or am I concerned about nothing?

ETA: after reading the link to the trinity I gather that what you meant was that the Intune has the ability to update the stock calibration so that a trip to the dealer is not needed... and that the issue with the OP is that the "last tune written" files don't match? Hope nobody wants to me.....

Nothing major, called Tech support, reset the intune and now everything is great!

Apparently with the inTune you do not need to restore your original tune if it goes to a dealership.

Mike helped me reset the inTune and restored the original tune, then it was like it was recognising a new vehicle and I just added the 91 Octane Tune again!
