My Trinity & 93 Canned Tune review/results.

Post by Bullish »

Let me begin by saying I AM NO EXPERT.
So if I say something real stupid it's because I am when it comes to things like this.

Sunday Morning I went to do a STOCk 0-60 run.
I installed / connected my trinity and I selected the vehicle but did not install tune.

I did my STOCK 0-60 run.. during my run bells started going off and Engine light came on.

I got these messages..

I was told this was normal when trying to install a tune...
To me its more like scary.....
Funny thing I wasn't trying to install a tune.. All I did was connect the Trinity and Selected a vehicle.

I check the engine code lights with the trinity and got this..

Weird... :?: :?: :?: :?:

Anyway I try to save stock tune and install the tune anyway and I got all kinds of error messages.

So I decided to disconnect my battery and let my car sit for a few hours..

Then when I connect battery back.. ALL WAS NORMAL..
I was able to down load the Tune... I got all those service messages again.. But once tune was installed it all went away and NO ENGINE Light..

I did a Tune 0-60 run...

Here are my results...

so yeah its faster .. Now I am not sure what difference in power you gain with .004 reduction in a 0-60 run..

However I don't really feel the difference in everyday driving..
These 392 are powerful cars to begin with.. I wasn't excepting a Hugh difference.
To me this is a STEP in the right direction.. Looking forward for the custom tune.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 7.5 for now..

When I first got the car I had it Dyno at 417...
Looking forward to seeing the 93 Tune Dyno numbers..

ALSO I was just informed today that there is a updated Tune version.
I am running the B version and there is now a C version...
So I will be updating my tune and doing another run soon..

Now on a different note...
This has nothing to do with Trinity but My car ticket was weird...
First of all it's not matching what the Trinity says and there was no difference between Stock and Tune.. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Has anyone else had or seen this on their 392's ?

have you tried the raised shift points?

the throttle response and shifting should be noticeable from the SOTP.

The difference may be due to a different rollout. One may use it and one may not. They both read from the exact same place, so thats my only explanation.

I would make recommend making a monitoring setup on the tuner that displays the mph and cross check the numbers, on my car it looks like on the tuner the speed is about 2-3 mph slower than my car speedo, but that may also be due to the fact that my tires are now 20's instead of 18's

The Tuner gets its readings directly from the cars computer. What the computer says is what the Trinity says. The cars instruments get their readings from the same place. If your tire size has changed then both will be wrong unless you corrected it with the tuner. The only way they could have different readings is if the speedos needle isn't placed properly.

Well I know that there is a New version to upload...
However with all the problems some are having when trying to reload an tune and being that the B version is working fine for me now...
I am going to keep it and not do anything else with the Trinity..
Until All the smoke clears.. I know DS is working hard to resolve all issues..
Keep up the good work guys..

Plus I for one LOVE my 22 highway MPG MDS...

I am just going to do some data logging to make sure the version I have now is not doing any damage and stay with it for now..

Locally I am getting 17 to 18 mpg..

On the high way I drive up to 85 put on Cruise cruise control..
Then I use the option of reducing mph without pressing the brake.
I bring it down to 80.. That will bring me up to 22-25 mpg depending how far I am driving..

The key is to drive with that ECO light on...

Now when I floor it and drive 90 plus .. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa I am down to 13..
