My 2012 Chrysler SRT8 won't start, the trinity shut my car d

Post by SRTGR8T »

i was having no issue with the trinity until I tried to use a different tune, I was using the 93 tune but couldn't get rid of the knock, so i put back the original stock tune in it so I could try the 91 tune, (BIG MISTAKE) now i get this error message saying "PCM: error unlock for reflash (-18)", it keeps failing to put either the tune back in or the original stock tune back in, it seems to be in a loop, i have took it out of the car, and put it back in it still won't work, also when i try to hook it to my computer i get the same message, it says "Thelast tune did not finish. The original will be restored." but it won't restore. The car won't move, of course this shit happend on saturday and nobody is there to help, now I'm screwed, please tell me there is a fix for this, if I take it to the dealer I know they will void my warranty they are pricks out here inn detroit. PLEASE HELP, Stranded and illegally parked!!! I hope somebody is there

I'm having a similar issue. Tune won't finish. However my vehicle does start. It shows the tune loaded at 100% but keeps asking me to turn key on(which it is) to finish. I don't think they will void your warranty. They just need to reflash your PCM to factory. That would not be covered under warranty.

Have it towed to the house. As far as the dealer goes. I'd find another one. They can't void a warranty for a CAI unless it is the cause of a problem and they can prove it.

But they will void for diablo sport tune, and if I take it to dealer they will know a tune was written to PCM , I am having it towed to house, $220 bucks wasted on a tow, what a shitty expierience

Just for grins. Did you disconnect the battery and reconnect it. Don't know if it will work. Don't think it will hurt.

Assuming battery is either in trunk or under back seat, it's not under hood, where is urs located

Battery is in the trunk.

They cannot void you warranty for any modifications, unless they can prove without a shadow of a doubt that the mod directly caused a problem. Thats in The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and is a Federal law.

LOL... Mine's under passenger seat But I have a 2012 GC SRT8. Check your owners manual. Probably in the trunk on yours.

Also when I tried to reload OEM tune everything shut down on mine including the Trinity went black(no power). Then after about 4 minutes my truck rebooted but the trinity did not. It stayed black with the middle light flashing yellow. But, my vehicle operated. I had contacted them about it and they said they would need to send the problem to engineering. Apparently there may be a update but my trinity won't let me do that either.

Under the passengers seat? That doesn't seem real safe. I know I wouldn't want to be sitting on top of a vat of acid, producing 12V of electricity.

Not sure where it is on the cars then. My 07 300C SRT8 had it in the trunk, my 08 GC SRT8 had it under the hood.

You should be more pissed about paying $60K for your overpriced hunk of tin and fake 87mm TB.

Kidding aside, did you unplug the battery for 10 minutes? Also, what does the Trinity say under Options, Last Tune Written?

PS. It's usually a good idea to tune early in the day during DS's business hours. Speaking from experience. ;)

sorry to hear this.

i did this shit on a sunday... and my car was undriveable. and to make it worse, you guys are 1 day behind in terms of time zones.. so i had to wait till monday evening my time to get onto diablosport tech support phone

anyway ...that aside...

you do know they had a buggy/corrupt 1r09c file a few days ago that seemed to cause a lot of problems for a few people? are you using that version or have you recently updated to the latest 1r09c version? or do you have the 1r09b? the last update of the file was the 15th of november. you have to put your serial number on the download page to access the files for download.

if you do have the old file...then that is probably the issue and diablo can definitely fix it for you but you have to wait till they open on monday as they need to walk you through a stepwise process to flash your car back to stock. also known as the 'force calibration update' process. there are a couple of threads on the forum regarding this issue as a few people have had problems like myself.

if you do have the NEW file... maybe they havent really fixed it. lol. thats why i have not flashed my car again after my initial debacle. i couldnt start my car properly for 5 days until they discovered the reason for the problems. and i still dont trust that c revision file. :lamer:

the other thing i found is that the trinity sometimes will not access the PCM every time .... leave the car in the 'on' position, unplug the trinity and replug it back in and see if that will commence the write process. i had to do that a couple of times before the car would accept the writing process

i was seriously pissed off as well but fortunately i did it at home and had another car i could drive for the week. i was going to tow my car to the dealer in desperation as it didnt seem they knew how to fix it.... but they did. :crashing:

anyway, diablo can definitely fix it so dont panic and go to the dealer. ... wait till monday and ring them....
