LT Knock and ST Knock Issues at Cruising Speeds

Post by txsport »

First my truck is all stock. 2011 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi

I am running the 93 tune.

When i am running down the highway at 70 with cruise control on and start to pull a slight incline, the LT goes up to 3 sometimes 4 degrees and then the ST goes up to 5-7 degrees with the LT dropping off to 0. I have tried different stations thinking maybe its the gas. Is it normal to see this type of LT and ST knock? Could it be because the truck is in and out of MDS?? One other item of interest is if the truck downshifts then the ST and LT knock go to zero and I may see the ST up to about 2 degrees.

I would pull some logs for ya but I am having issues there too.

I also get a LT knock on the 0-60 times around 3-4 degrees. I have tried to to connect my Laptop to the Trinity and get some logs but it finds the tool and then never finds the vehicle. I am running the latest c version with the T version 93 tune for the shift point issue.

Thanks

Ok, got the logging to work on the way home. I have no LT or ST knock at cruising or WOT.

Is there a logged run you would like me to make so y'all can look into it??

Want I have found is 93 octane isn't 93 octane in many cases. Try running the 91 tune with 93 octane gas.

I tried the 87 tune with 93 octane gas with the same symptoms. That tells me it isn't an octane issue..

I ran a test on the 91 tune and I am getting similar results. However, the ST it reaching 3 and the LT is reaching 1 but only for brief periods of time unlike the 93 tune.

Is it possible to add gas for the partial throttle for cruising speeds??

I have tried different gas stations/different brands and the results have been the same on the 93 tune.

Mine also does this. I get a st retard of 11 and lt retard of 5 running 89 gas and 87 perf tune. Tried with 94 oct and 93 tune not so bad with only 3 lt retard and 6 st retard. Thats on a flat highway cruising 90km/hr. 2010 1500 stock 5.7 no mods. Tried dif gas stations only difference was mpg over time. Stock i get 1-3st and 2 ltretard. With 89 octane. Have logs donno how to post.

I'm also running the 87 oct tune and getting st/lt only under 1500 rpm, cruising in 4th/5th with light throttle tip in. Just the slightest change in load and the knk kicks in, usually 2-3 counts.

Took a 200 mile road trip today and I could actually hear it knocking occassionally. This is rediculous.....going to have to return mine to stock before it causes damage.
