Trinity interefering with Radio??

Post by TruckAmmo »

I have a customer who can not get 90% of the radio stations that he can when the Trinity is unplugged. This is costing me a sale! Any ideas as to why and if it can be fixed? This a 2005 RAM 2500 Quad cab 5.9L Never saw this one before.

He also said his ABS and Brake lights were on at first. He went into DTCs and cleared codes wven though there were none, and it turned these lights off.

Move it. The Trinity has always caused RF for various things. It shortens keyless remote range too. Usually if you just move the device and the cable it can be reduced somewhat. It will never go away completely.

Has anyone been able overcome this? Maybe an antenna booster or something? Is the interference coming from the cable or the unit itself?

I can't believe this is considered acceptable behavior for Diablosport to be able to say "Yeah, our product makes your radio useless. That's normal." Is this the official response from Diablosport?

Thanks
Dave

They've tried shielding, but moving it usually provides the best results. Its not all vehicles that it happens to, so testing is impossible, and so is finding a solution.

I'm having an issue with my radio too. For some reason, when I play music through blue tooth from my phone, for some reason, the radio/phone will decide that the song needs to restart or skip to the next song. Also, my air bag light is on now. It turns on and off, It shouldn't be an issue with the car, as it only has 8000 miles (2012 Challenger RT M6). Also, the Trinity is now powering down on it's own and I just went to unmarry it from the car for the newest update and it said that the tool was not married. :?

it's a dodge/chrysler vehicle issue only... have never had a GM vehicle have these issues... odd... but, that's dodge/chrysler for ya...

GMs have had the problem. The GTO guys used to complain about remote range when the Trinity was plugged in also.

really?? never remembered that...

I know there was a GM issue with the remote range, and there was a TSB out for it, which even applied to my car, because my car also had the issue... it had nothing to do with my trinity... it had to do with the antenna and receiver in the car... once the TSB steps were performed (replaced antenna and reprogrammed receiver in the dash) there was no more issue...

so I think this was more likely the case....

A little late to the party, but...

It isn't an impossible problem to test or fix, it is just expensive. Nemiro on srtforums put more time into this issue in one day than DiabloSport has since I reported it during beta testing of the Trinity several years ago. Here is the thread on srtforums if you're curious: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f384/tr ... ndex4.html, post 52.

Neil makes a good point, maybe... How exactly is the Trinity legal? I thought that FCC laws didn't allow electronics to accept or emit interference? It most certainly seems to be emitting interference, so shouldn't the FCC have pulled it off the market a long time ago? Seeing as how they didn't, it can't possibly be as bad as he's making it sound.

I don't know the rules around it, but I don't recall seeing anything about FCC on the Trinity. Normally things that meet those requirements have it stamped on the device somewhere.

I have the same problem withthe 2012 SRT8. Ilose 80% of my FM stations when the unit is plugged in. Moving it is not an option as it really needs to stay onthe left side. (you don't want the cord going across your feet ).

Diablo never really resolved this and the battery issue. I think they are in for a quick buck and really don't have the know how or desire to fix major product flaws.
