Slow Throttle response with "Diablo Tune" 93 Octane

Post by Thetiger »

Just changed the tune from 91 octane to Diablo Tune (next up from 91 on the screen) which should be 93. The test drive wasn't as impressive as the 91. Reloaded the Diablo tune again and it seemed much better but the throttle response seemed slower. The 91 seemed to set me back in the seat a little better. I also don't know if the Diablo tune (93) is set to work with CAI. The slower throttle seems to feel like it doesn't react as fast as the 91??????????

did you reset parameters?
Did you add throttle booster to the 91 tune?

My very first tune was with the canned 91 Octane choice with no other adjustments (don't even know what the throttle boost option is) From there after you confirmed the Diablo Tune was 93, which is what I really wanted, I simply plugged back in and chose the diablo tune for 93. I didn't set the truck back to stock to do this, I just overwrote the 91. Again no other adjustments were choosen. Once I get on the throttle it seems I get a slight lag, then a bit of a surge, a momentary pause, then a secondary surge which holds until I let off. Assuming the Diablo tune is for 93 Octane how would I add the throttle boost if that's what I need to cure this? Thanks

I was wondering if anyone had a response to this post? I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 and am also getting the strange surge when first taking off and then my Jeep falls on its face and has no pull in 2nd or 3rd and then pulls again after that. Kind of getting the same "fishbite" I used to get in 5th and 6th before the tune. Was hoping the tune would fix that issue as it is the worst part of these HEMI Jeeps. Do we need to restore to factory before applying new tunes? Is there any new updates for the throttle response problems?

i was told you don't have to go back to factory to modify an installed tune but I still have the same problem. It can't be the fuel because I buy 94 Octane and I'm a little hesitant to add 5% throttle boost. The 5% increase seems to be what others have done. It may be worth a try.

try the +5%, you may like it. if you like +5%, try +20%.

I have turned throttle boost up +30% and +40% in custom tunes for Rams and Jeeps. most who try it that high like it.

I actually already have the throttle boost at +15% and I like it better but there is still a huge dead spot in acceleration on these Jeeps. The fish bite symptom I am referring to is well known on the internet and makes me want to trade this thing in for something else. It almost seems like MDS is still active even though I have disabled it through the tuner. Do you guys have the same fish bite symptoms?

Mears148,

post your last tune written so I can see how the throttle boost is getting applied to the tune. depending on how it's getting changed, a tweak may help.

custom trans tune may help too.

hook your tuner to your computer (laptop or desktop) and power it up, and save "last tune written" tune file to computer in a place you can find it easily, then use "upload attachment" to attach it to a post here.

hope it does feel better. you're welcome for the help.

took a look at the trans side of your tune, you have similar trans tables to a 2012 Ram. have had some good results with custom trans tunes on the Rams. would you like to try some trans tuning?
