My first tune, and a few questions

Post by ledman »

Hi everyone,
Newbie to the tuner scene, I have a 2013 Dodge Charger SE 3.6L V-6, installed the 91 octane tune. It really woke my car up and I am liking it so far.
I filled it up with 91 octane a few days before I tuned it, but there was still 3-4 gallons of 87 octane in the tank when I did, so I am sure it "watered down" the octane level a little, so would this cause my engine to knock under moderate to hard acceleration? It isn't bad, but it is noticeable.

Aslo, in the parameters, is there any advantage to adjusting the idle in drive/neutral higher than the stock 600 rpm? I bumped it up to 850 but I didn't care for it to much. I think my car sounds better at a lower idle with my exhaust setup.

you shouldn't be able to hear knock, but you can log to make sure ;)

What would cause the knock?
I restored my car to original, no knock now, so it must be because of the octane level is contaminated from the leftover 87 in my tank. I only restored it because I have to take it to the dealer tomorrow to have the seat adjuster replaced.
OK, I will get a log as soon as I can, as I have been thinking of getting a custom tune after I install my CAI, thanks for the response.

I am still getting some knock under harder acceleration, again, not bad, but noticeable. I am going to do some data logging, and see if I can figure it out, with that said, I would love to get a custom tune done now that I have my CAI installed. Any info on custom tunes would be appreciated!
