adjusting shift settings

Post by 2003excrsn73 »

I recently upgraded from a predator u7170 for a ford 7.3 to an itune 1000. I have a 2003 ford excursion with a 7.3, 4" exhaust and upgraded cold air intake. Every thing else is stock. I used to run the economy program with the shift set to firm. I believe the predator had the following shift settings (stock, mild, firm and extreme). I was pretty happy with the setup until the predator stopped working so I upgraded to the itune1000.

I ocassionally tow a utility trailer with an ATV, an 18' boat and rarely tow a 10k lb travel trailer. When I tow the 10k I use the towing program and kept the shift setting at firm all the time.

Now with the itune there are so many shift options from what I was accustomed to with the predator I am not sure what to set it to in regards to being comparable with the predator setting to firm.

I see a global line pressure setting, RPM setting and firmness setting but it is not really clear. When I went into the firmness setting I see the 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. Once inside of there the setting is at 0 which I assume is stock and you can scroll up but frankly I don't know where to go to get the comparable setting to firm from what I had with the old predator that didn't have all of these options other than stock, mild, firm and extreme/hard and you didn't have to adjust between each transmissin gear range.

Do I now need to adjust the firmess between each transmission gear range to firm?

What is the right number range on the adjustable setting to get what I had before in the firm range?

I kept clicking on the right adjustable arrow and recall it went into the 120 range but dont' recall if it capped there as I just stopped and backed out of modifying the shift point and simply loaded the economy tune.

Thanks for your reveiw and responses.

the tunes add some firmness, if you feel like you want more, make simple changes until you get it where you like :)

Hey mike everyone keep telling my intune have shift points. But I'm not seeing them and also one of my buddies looked at it and couldn't find it in the same spot his is in. I have 2012 Dodger charger RT and he has a 2012 dodge charger srt 8. It change the shift fimerness but it do it by itself and i would like to do my own shift points.
