question about Canadian fuel

Post by bling »

Hey guys, just got my i1000 a few days ago and was wondering if anybody has any opinion of if our 91 octane fuel is capable enough for the 91 tune? Right now im running the 87 tune as I don't want to have to worry about listening for a slight detonation.I have read that shell isn't the best choice to use in the U.S and I'm not able to get anything better then 91 octane. A friend of mine told me that our 91 octane has no alcohol so in actual tests its better then U.S 91 with alcohol. Im pretty sure my old predator had a 89 tune any chance of that coming back? thanks

Actually ethanol (alcohol) raises octane. With a proper tune you can make far more power with it than without it.

Anyway, try it and log. You aren't going to hear pinging or knocking. The knock sensors will. If they retard the timing, you know your gas is no good.
