U7165 R20 revision
Moderator: mikel
sorry for being a pain, it has just be a long time since I have had a tune in my truck. I was getting around 17 mpg in town, banks turbo back dual, elbow, air raid intake, 35 pro comp at's and hood cowl scoop. I do not know what the new r20 has in store for us but I am hoping to get back to where we were. A kick ass tune with good mpg. thx
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: U7165 R20 revision
Some things concerned me with the injection timing in those tunes. Currently the new 100hp tunes run 7.5 degrees less injection timing. Its a safer timing curve for your trucks. The injection timing @ WOT is what is less, we kept the part throttle injection timing very close to what it was.rtprestw wrote: I found r17-100 to have the best fuel economy on the highway my main reason for using it. Cole, so what is the story. Knowing what I have on my 06 , will this new tune get me back to where I was (mpg/power)?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: U7165 R20 revision
From what i have seen in test results here locally yes. Now since most of our test are done at Sea Level, Vehicles that run at Altitude may see a slight change in mpg.

ok I will give it a week
new trouble code
Thanks for gettting the new revision done. Now maybe all the whiners will stop.
I just downloaded the new rvision into my predator, I then installed the 100hp tune into the truck. when i went out for a test drive it seemed to be pretty good, nice driveability and good shifting. Only problem is when I open it up it seems to surge real bad. I took it for a 120 mile trip (all highway) and the mileage went from around 13 (factory tune) to 16.2.
When I got home I checked for trouble codes and the predator came up with P2290-Injector control pressure too low. And P1000-System readiness test not complete.
I then installed the 65HP tune and took a test drive, no more surging and the trouble codes did not come back.
I have no other modifications to the truck.
I read in a previous post someone else had the same problem and someone replied telling them they needed a custom tune.
Any help solving the use of the 100HP tune will be appreciated.
Thanks again for getting the new program out and dont let the whiners get to you, there is always a few.

Same for you rbob can you post your calibration ID.rbob wrote:I did not see any boost in mpg.Instead it seem a loss using the 65hp tune. I have put on 4inch exhaust and lost the catalytic. Why is there such a problem getting better mileage. For what its worth you could drop the hp for better mileage.

MY cal Id# is vxap2n2. I am going to try and run the same route tomorrow that I ran today using the 65 HP tune instead of the 100hp tune. I will run it exactly the same with cruise set at 77 MPH. I'm curious to see if there is an increase or decrease in mileage.
RE: calid
Cole, you know what extras I have on the truck my calid is vxcf5h5 part u7165 pcm60 serial 20006c4 v8r20 born 2/4/08 [3795]. Can I get a tune tune like the old one I used to have 100hp installed and was getting 17-18 mpg around town with lots of power when needed. I do not have a heavy foot. Do I need a custom tune? This new tune is not getting it done. thx
Re: RE: calid
What are you currently noticing for fuel economy? The last post that you made was i will give it a week. But i didnt see where you posted your fuel economy. Sorry can you post that for me.jsavelli wrote:Cole, you know what extras I have on the truck my calid is vxcf5h5 part u7165 pcm60 serial 20006c4 v8r20 born 2/4/08 [3795]. RE: Re: RE: calid
Cole, I have been driving for a couple days and almost went through a full tank and I am getting 11.5-12.3 I had the speedometer re done by the dealer and I have checked it with my hand hel GPS, like I said earlier I was getting 17-18 mpg around town. Can you help me?
calid
OK, i just got back from running the same route I ran yesterday, same traffic conditions. I got 16.9 mpg today. a little better than the 100hp version. the 65 hp feels almost the same as the ford tune, not much low end power.
By the way, my truck is an 03 f-350 crew cab automatic 4x4 with a large Leer cap the bed. I also checked for trouble codes when I got home and none were found. Do you have any idea what causes the P2290 code during the 100hp tune? I may have to make another trip later today, but in a different direction. Same type of road, all highway. if I do I will put in the tow tune and get back to you with a mileage report tomorrow morning as soon as I get a chance to fill up.
