Cooling fans '14 charger

Post by gtapro151 »

I've heard 2 things one is that the reason the fans come on so often after loading a diablo tune is the engine starts pulling timeing if it gets to where the stock temps are set. the second thing is i dont want to be replacing fans or having my car overheat due to a fan failing from being on 24/7 because i loaded the 87 tune and its 40deg out here and i can hear the fan spinning down every time i turn off my car where as with stock temps it took quite a while to kick on. why would dodge let it get that hot if it pulls timeing? and if i have my fans back at stock temps am i loseing any benefits to the tune?

They let it get hot because its better for efficiency. Economy and performance don't go together. To get one, you have to compromise on the other. SO they chose to give up power to get maximum economy out of it. Put in a 180° thermostat and you won't have to worry about it pulling timing because the motor will stay cooler.

The fans will not die unless they short out. The motors are rated for 100,000 hours continuous.

ah, I see thanks. So if i get the 180 (i have read alot on this as well) I will gain performance wise but mpg will suffer?

MPG may or may not decrease. Emissions will increase, but the cats will take care of it.
