what does "Canned" tune mean?

Post by Northshoremb »

Have a 2015 Ram 5.7 and just waiting for update to be released so I can try them but what is a "canned" tune? Also why do people say there trucks get less MPG with it?

canned tune is a preset tune.. the tunes that come on the programmer...

you're going to have to get a new pcm from diablosport in order to be able to tune the 2015's, due to chrysler's new encryption...

I know I jumped the gun but I'm Pissed right now. The truck is the exact same as the 2014 so thought it would be the exact tuner just new download. Now I have a new in the box tuner that won't work. Guess I'll have to find a 2014 owner to buy it and spend even more Money on the 2015 model.

the tuner you have will work, you will just need to buy a new pcm to be able to tune the truck.

Assuming something is the same from year to year seems to get a lot of our customers in trouble....PCMs are all that matter to the tuner, so just because it has the same engine, trans, equipment, etc, if the pcm has changed, it may as well be a whole new vehicle :)

Not 100% sure yet, likely in the $600-700 range.
