Since I live in Colorado I am limited to 91 octane gasoline.
What's the verdict on using an octane boosting product from an auto parts store to bump my 91 fuel so I can use the 93 octane performance tune?
I drive an 06 Mustang GT.

RE: Octane Boosters
have never seen much good from the cheap octane boosters, they dont do much.
Alot of people seem to like Torco, but I do not know that it can bring a full tank up by 2 full octane points.
Thanks

This is a quote from an article in wikipedia:
"An engine that might require 93 octane at sea level may perform at maximum on a fuel rated at 91 octane if the elevation is over, say, 1000 feet."
Since I live in Colorado I was thinking maybe I could load the 93 octance performance tune on my car. Without the gas though I don't even know if that'll make any difference.

Yeah, since it ran fine with 91 fuel and the 93 octance tune I see no reason to use the booster. It ran fine with the booster too.bandersson wrote:Don't waste your money on octane boosters unless you experience knock with the current fuel.
For you guys that live at higher altitudes you should be able to use the 93 octane performance tune with 91 octane fuel.
