2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Just traded in my 2013 Silverado 6.2l for a 2015 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Loved the Intune with the custom Lew tune on the Silverado, just couldn't get used to the wind noise that Chevy said was normal. Last Friday, I tuned the 3.5 Ecoboost with the 87 octane tune. The Intune performed as it should, saved the original tune (just took a little over an hour, but the Intune told me to expect that), and installed the 87 Octane tune. Took it for a test drive Friday evening, and seemed to run just fine. I only drove it one time over the weekend, and it seemed fine. Went out to go to work this morning, and the F150 fired right up, but when I went to back up, I had no gas pedal response whatsoever. Pushing the pedal to the floor did nothing! I turned the truck off and cranked it back up a few times with the same result. I immediately restored the original tune (Intune restored just fine) and the problem went away. Need to know if this problem has been reported. I know the tune for the 2015 Ecoboost 3.5 has just been released, but this problem is so severe that a new truck isn't driveable with the tune in.

Did the truck throw any codes or wrench lights when this happened? can you plug the tool in and check and see if there is any memory codes in there? please
Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Truck started up and all appeared normal, just had no pedal response at all, even after I shut down and restarted a few times. Had to restore original tune to be able to get to work. Truck only has 350 miles on it, and was going to restore original tune and go to work or restore original tune and call the dealer if the problem persisted. Not sure how to check for memory codes, but if you'll walk me thru it I can check this evening when I get home.

Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
I'll look after work and see if there are any codes. I noticed on this forum that there is a problem using the Trinity tuner with the same truck/engine combo, loss of throttle, and several people have experienced it on highway situations. Diablosport stated they were working on the issue. Could this be related to the problem in the Intune? I know they are different tuner, but seems to be a little more than coincidence that both are having problems loosing throttle with a 2015 F150 3.5 Ecoboost.
Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Okay, had a chance to plug in the intune, and there doesn't appear to be any stored codes.

post your tunes out of the tunes folder on the intune drive. Or you can email them to me. Brianm<at>diablosport.com

Brian, not sure what tunes you want me to send. When I had the problem, I was using the canned 87 octane tune with no mods, but I had to revert back to stock tune just to get some kind of throttle response and get the truck moving. Right now, the truck is back on stock tune, so I'm not sure what you are asking for.

please load a tune then send him the files from the tunes folder on the intune drive, then you can put it back to stock.

Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Mike, will try to get that done this afternoon when I get home. Just a question, another member posted in this thread: http://www.diablosport.com/forum/viewto ... 3&start=30 about the identical problem I'm having with my Intune, and you posted a tune for him to try (problem is he posted in the Trinity section of the forum). Will this help me? Here is the other post:

I too just recently bought the intune and am having the same issue on my 2015 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. I put the 87 performance tune on yesterday. It drove fine to go refill on gas and back, about 15 miles. This morning, got in and started driving, and after the first stop light crossed the intersection then lost all throttle. Luckily I had the tuner in the truck and was able to pull over and load the stock tune back on.
this update will resolve that.Attachments

Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Brian, as you requested, I loaded the 87 octane tune back in, and emailed the files from the tune folder. Before I did anything, I loaded the FORD_TUNES-1t01zf.ITF file that Mike posted (he posted in the Trinity area, but I asked and he said the update was for the intune) into the intune drive and let it load. I also choose to download the original backup from the internet instead of waiting for the backup to download from the truck. The truck appears to be running fine right now, but the first time I put the tune in, it ran fine for about 25 miles or so and 3 days, then the gas pedal went completely dead, no response at all, and I had to restore the original tune to get going again.

I replied to your email, but for anyone else here is the updated firmware for the tool that resolves previous issues.

Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Thank, Brian. I don't have access to my email at work, I'll try to get it loaded today when I get home from work. Just FYI, the tune Mike posted yesterday, FORD_TUNES-1t01zf.ITF, didn't fix the problem. I loaded it in yesterday afternoon, and it seemed to load just fine. Took the truck for a 5 mile test drive and it seemed fine. Headed out to work this morning, and made it about 1 mile before the truck lost all pedal control. Had to pull over in somebody's yard, plug in the intune, and return to factory tune. This is the second time I've had to do that on a new truck with only a little over 500 miles on it, and I'm getting a little nervous about using a new $50K+ F150 for a test bed. Sure hopes the tune you just posted works.
Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
Brian, I loaded the tune you posted (the file ending in ZG). Loaded just fine, and seemed to be fine when I went on a test ride (5 miles) last night. This morning on the way to work, it started acting up again. I didn't loose the gas pedal completely, but I was cruising down the highway, at 65mph on cruise control, and it all of a sudden started slowing down. Put my foot on the gas, and it spit and sputtered, then revved up and seemed to run fine. A few miles later, I stopped for a red light, and when I went to pull away, it sputtered and had very little power, but then recovered and ran okay for the last 10 or 12 miles to work. I did notice a slight hesitation or sputter a few times when taking off from a stop, but that also only happens now and then. I've left the tune in for now, since I wasn't forced to return to OEM tune, but need to know what to do. Every time this happens, I'm afraid it's going to go back to the dead gas pedal, and start looking for a place to pull over!
Re: 2015 Ford F159 3.5 Ecoboost Tune Problem
First, sorry for posting in the trinity forum about an itune problem. I loaded the updated tune the other evening and set out onto the back roads. The new tune still had a similar issue but not quite as bad. I did not lose all throttle, I had a very little bit. I could press pretty far on the gas pedal and it made no difference (engine did not rev), but I did have just enough throttle to SLOWLY get going. I had to load the stock tune back into it, as it is unsafe to drive that way.
I do not know if this helpsor not, but on the old tune when I had no throttle at all, it did seem to work when I put it in reverse.
