2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue

Post by [email protected] »

I posted this within the Sierra thread but I'm not sure if anyone checks it anymore.

have a 2014 Silverado and I'm experiencing the same things as what is written about. I don't know if the 91 octane tune has the same problem but I'm running the 87 and when you enable throttle boost, it definitely has a short shift bog happens between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd shift. In order to avoid it you have to really get on the pedal and cause the RPM's to come out more otherwise if your driving easy and then you get on it a little it bogs out. I'm also hoping to see something may be adjusted in the can tunes that would be posted out as an update. I looked and can't find anywhere where theres any settings thay can be adjusted for partial throttle shift points or RPM otherwise I would have made some adjustments myself.

I have since turned off throttle boost (the files i posted still have it on) and while its still there (1-2shift) its not as pronounced.

Also I'm wondering what torque management does in the TCM tune. It doesn't seem to make a difference to me having it on or off. Thank you for your help!.

Here are my files.

Thought this was fixed in the last update. Have you tested the WOT shifting yet from a stop? My truck still has a slight bog down at low rpm shifts but bangs into gear if I have it to the floor. Think Diablo needs to get another 2014 on the dyno n do some real world testing to get these issues sorted out. A custom tune on the other hand would probably fix these issues but shouldn't be necessary. I actually took my in tune off my truck for now until it's sorted out.

I don't believe it to be fixed either. I am having the same issue as the OP here. I returned mine to stock and turned off tq management and DOD and it runs pretty well. It's a shame we can't use the 87 tune without issues. Hopefully they can get these issues sorted out so we can get the full functionality out of these tunes.

Yep..it definitely bangs into gear at wot. That's with torque management ON also.

Ive heard in the gm trucks forum that they generally reply to issues fairly quickly. So far I'm not seeing it. I understand people can be busy doing other things, but customer issues should have some priority. Even a , hey were busy but not ignoring you would be nice.

Yea the bang at WOT a lot of people saying its axle wrap but there's WAY too many of these brand new trucks doing it to be axle wrap. I could see 1 or 2 having something driveline off balance or out of line... But it seems like every truck running a diablosport tune is getting it.... Leans way towards a Tcm tune problems I even put traction bars on my truck... Still bangs now I know it's tune related and not axle wrap. I know it's basically brand new designed trucks.,. But come on the 2016 are about to be on the lot...

It's definitely not axle wrap, it's a surge that happens between 1-2 at wide open throttle and you can feel it jerk the truck pretty solidly. If you back off the throttle just before it shifts and I mean just barely, it won't do it. Not even in the slightest bit. And the amount of throttle that you have to back off is hardly enough to even notice it still pulls hard but it doesn't do this hard shift. What I really like to get ironed out also though, is this shifting between 1-2 at partial throttle where it sometimes short shifts and tends to bog the truck. Now it may be that it can't be dealt with because of the 1 to 2 gear ratio in the truck but I'd still like to know that. I've also noticed that between 5-6 is slightly rougher than all the others at partial throttle.

I wish one of these guys would get back to us at some point.

Seems like me and you are having the exact same issue...is your truck 4x4? I've noticed more guys having these issues with the 4x4 trucks. Not sure exactly why that is but maybe something with the transfer case could be throwing off the tune? But i doubt it. But then again anything is possible.

For me Lew, it's not WOT, but mine bogs down and shifts far too soon (1600-1800) from 1-2 and 2-3 with partial or light throttle. It seems the shift points are off. I think this issue others are dealing with as well.

you try adjusting the shift points higher? don't know if just adjusting them by rpm will help with that.. may need to have the mph setting changed via custom tuning..

There doesn't appear to be a place where you can adjust rpm in partial throttle. In the adjustable settings when you open it up to make the adjustment it only shows 5600 rpm which is where would shift at basically redline or close to wide open throttle. There doesn't appear to be any other adjustment possible. For me I've just been living with it, I find it to be not that bad not that unbearable. I just posted this in hopes that maybe it was something you guys could tweaked a little and maybe post about an update perhaps.

I'm getting the impression that no one here is willing to take a look at this. I'm coming from a background of owning a 99 Silverado that for years I always heard about tuners and how great they are. I always wanted to get a hypertext programmer back then and wondered how much of an improvement in performance it would have made. Fast-forward to now and I have a 14 Silverado and decided this time around to go with one. I figured life is short and why not after all, I'd been hearing about them for so long. Then I start hearing on forums about this company called Diablosport and how there programers are better than hypertech. So I figured what the hell and went with one. I would say that performance has improved and I'm generally happy about it. But... I have been someone that hasn't experienced something bad like my truck being messed up and not starting. I'm reading more and more of these stories from forums and reviews and, to be honest, it's pretty damn scary. Everytime I plug the tuner in I'm on pins and needles and saying a prayer each time that it will go without anything catastrophic happening. Knock on wood and thank the lord so far. But I'm also seeing issues going from the 87 tune to the Diablo tune, which I've wanted to test but am now afraid to do. In fact, I'm afraid to hook it up to the pc and let it update as it may introduce some new issue. I'm an old school pc BIOS flasher and if it ain't broke I won't be trying get to fix it. The way I'm seeing issues resolved (lack) and the dead end threads coupled with threads about bad customer service, I just not wanting to touch it unless I have to flash back to stock to bring it to the dealership. Which is something else, some guys are having to go to the dealership to fix what the tuner messed up which will immediately reveal to the dealership what's happened and potentially get a vehicle owner in hot water. To me, this is no way to run a business and leaving customers hung out with the only recourse to pay up more for a custom tune is pretty bad. I'm all for custom and all, but only if it's to get more out of it and your functioning good to begin with. This being my first experience with a tuner hasn't left me feeling positive at this point. I'm certainly hoping things improve.
