2012 Silverado KR at WOT

Post by rebelman06 »

I installed the 87 Octane tune with DOD off and stock TCM settings. The engine is stock except for a GMPP muffler. I ran 06MonteSS's DSLOGREDUX and average LTFT's are between -1 and 0. The program recommended no LTFT adjustments. I did two WOT bursts on a single log that had Total Knock Spark Retard in the range of 1-3 at low RPM's and 5-7 at 4800-5400 RPMS. Average WOT TKSR 1.6 and Max was 7.6. The DSLOGREDUX tool recommends adjusting the PE down -4% across all 3 bands from the current setting of 0. The AFR/EQ ratio captured by the Intune was 12.1 average at WOT.

If I adjust the PE setting down, that will get my AFR closer to 12.6 correct? Will this make my TKSR worse from going leaner?

Thanks,
Andrew

Re: 2012 Silverado KR at WOT on 87 Tune

I removed 2 degrees of timing from the WOT/PE spark advance tables (thanks for the suggestion Lew!) in the Intune menu and logged again. I am still seeing up to 6 degrees of TKSR during WOT. The TKSR starts as soon as I go WOT. There is hardly any TKSR when cruising or under light acceleration. My LTFT's are good and WOT average AFR is ~12.1

What else can I check or adjust? Could it be bad gas? I'm running 87 octane E10. Fresh air filter and 44K on the engine. My latest log is attached.

Thanks,
Andrew

the total spark retard could also be counts from traction control, etc pulling timing to limit wheelspin...

disable traction control and stabilitrak by holding down the traction control button on your dash for about 8 seconds..

now, with that stuff disabled, do another WOT pull and see how things look...

I disabled the TC and Stabilitrak and I am still seeing the same TKSR/KR (in the 5-7 range). I can hear the pinging from 4700+ RPMs. It sometimes sounds like BB's rattling in the engine bay.

so then pull some more timing in that upper rpm range

Well I'm back with an update. I must have fat-fingered the install and hit "Diablo Tune" instead of "87-Octane". I had taken a log to recheck my cruise LTFT and was checking the custom parameters. I reset them and noticed it said "Installing Diablo Tune". I installed the 87 tune and will re-log. I'm pretty most if not all of the knock will be gone. I hope I can stop avoiding WOT now.
