Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
I am actually seeing the same bogging issue with my 2008 avalanche. I been searching forums looking for a fix or if someone figured out a good tune for one when i came across this thread.

Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
[email protected] I hear what you are saying. I don't think they know how to fix this. Some people say that if you get a custom tune, this will fix this issue. That's a bunch of crock! I had a custom tune done by diablew and my 2014 Silverado 2WD 5.3 does the same thing. When i e-mail Lew about this issue, it seemed like it bothered him and he said that's the way these truck are. He did send me another TCM tune to try but that didn't work. I didn't contact him again because he didn't seem like he wanted to deal with this issue. I felt like he paid me to tune my truck. Anyway, I guess the more noise we make at all the forums about how poor these tunes work with our trucks maybe they will work on a fix and restore their reputation with the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Sierra/ Silverado communities. For now i just turned off AFM and will try tuning my truck if a fix comes out. People should wait for the fix before they buy these tuners or look else where. Hope this helps others decide.
Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
as I replied at the beginning of this thread, I don't know what the issue is really.. only thing it sounds like is throttle boost..
so, if you do not change the throttle boost at all, then you should not have the problem.. right??

Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
Torque management is GMs way of controlling power going to the transmission. GM implemented it to help get better mpg and also extend the life of the transmission. I hated the way my truck drove with it on. It caused a delay in acceleration that felt like the truck was bogging down or was slipping out of gear.[email protected] wrote:I posted this within the Sierra thread but I'm not sure if anyone checks it anymore.
have a 2014 Silverado and I'm experiencing the same things as what is written about. I don't know if the 91 octane tune has the same problem but I'm running the 87 and when you enable throttle boost, it definitely has a short shift bog happens between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd shift. In order to avoid it you have to really get on the pedal and cause the RPM's to come out more otherwise if your driving easy and then you get on it a little it bogs out. I'm also hoping to see something may be adjusted in the can tunes that would be posted out as an update. I looked and can't find anywhere where theres any settings thay can be adjusted for partial throttle shift points or RPM otherwise I would have made some adjustments myself.
I have since turned off throttle boost (the files i posted still have it on) and while its still there (1-2shift) its not as pronounced.
Also I'm wondering what torque management does in the TCM tune. It doesn't seem to make a difference to me having it on or off. Thank you for your help!.
Here are my files.
Here are the settings I use for my truck. I tried a lot of different configurations and like this one the best for power, drivability, and economy.

DOD turned off

Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
Ok sorry I didn't post right away was very busy the last couple weekends. After trying out the latest tunes that Lew sent me, my truck is really running well. Has good power and the shifting is finally great. I did notice that the last tune does not have the same explosiveness as the first tune. This is for sure the result of turning throttle boost all the down. It makes a world of difference as far as drivability. I'm actually enjoying driving my truck again. Good job Lew. I forgot to mention, I have about 400 miles on the new tune.

Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
Hey Mike/Lew,
I wanted to revive this thread to see if any progress might have been made on this issue.
A few questions:
1) Does the 91 tune have this same problem as the 87 tune?
2) Throttle boost seems to be the issue - I know that the 87 tune comes pre-loaded with 15% I believe. If I go in to the throttle boost section of the tuner, would anything I add be on top of the 15% or would I be able to say back the pre-loaded amount down to 10%?
3) Lew - In the gentlemen's tune above mine (hockeylove) that you corrected, what did you change if you don't mind me asking? Maybe I can mirror his tune for my truck.
4) I have a bit larger tires than stock and have just left it, but would changing the tire size to the right height possibly help the short shifting?
Thanks in advance!

Re: 2014 Silverado Throttle Boost Issue
correcting speedo will always help.
do that first, and from there, describe what your actual issue is and I may be able to resolve it.

Thanks Mike, I will give that a go this evening.mikel wrote:correcting speedo will always help.

My actual problem is with the 87 tune installed, it short shifts and bogs down from 1-2 and 2-3 as many others have experienced. I would love to install the 87 tune and not opposed to the 91 tune either, but the 87 is basically undrivable for me at the moment, so I have returned to stock with DOD and Tq MGMT off.
Would you be able to shed some light on a few of my other questions posted?

Load the tune you want to run to the truck then post your backup and last tune written file and I'll take a shot at it.

Sorry to keep asking but would you be able to answer questions 1 and 2 for me that I posted above? Just trying to learn how all the throttle boost works and get it close to dialed in the first try.
