Unable to read backup TCM

Post by Leo O »

Hello, Im having a bit of trouble, When i attempt to update my 2006 chevy duramax 6.6 lbz with my intune i1000, it wont update. First i plug it in and it says"TCM Calibration for 1GCHK29DX6E194398 might need an update. Attempt a backup read?" then i click the yes. Then after, it attempts it, it says "Unable to read a backup of this TCM". Im not sure what to think of it. Because i put the 85 tune on there about 4 days ago already and i really dont feel a difference. Im not even sure if its kicked in or not. So basically, why cant it read a backup of the tcm and why hasnt the tune actually kicked in yet? If anyone could help, please i would appreciate it.

Had the same problem here wit the same engine. We skip the TCM but transmission is very hard on shifting. What can we do?

Thanks, Jeremy.

when you load a tune to a duramax you need to drive it easy for a bit while it learns the new torque output and the trans will improve.
