Do NOT load Custom tunes into "Tunes" folder

I was trying to load up a custom tune on i2 and unlike the i1000, it wouldn't load when pasted into the "TUNES" folder
So I copied to the VIN folder, thinking may that's how it should be since one device can be use on multiple vehicles,,no still nothing.

Lastly, I copied it to the i2 root directory and sure enough it loaded up just fine.

So this is a distinct change from the i1000 and I just wanted to verify that it's intentional. The quick guide is a bit ambiguous but seems to agree since it simply states "drag it to the i2 drive" and does not specify a particular folder.

When the i2 is licensed to more than one vehicle, will the process of loading a Custom tune from different vehicles change?

They will always go to the root of the drive, even with multiple VIN/tune folders.

While this is a change from i-1000 behavior, I honestly never realized so many people were putting the files in the tunes folder, as we only ever suggest placing them in the intune drive.

Ever since the I1000 Beta, i've always just drag/dropped the custom tunes into the "Tunes" folder and it's always worked without issue.

right, I realize it works, just didnt know that people were commonly doing it that way

Mike, I also placed my custom tunes in the tunes folder however once installed they no longer show up when looking at the folder in Windows Explorer but they are there when I select custom tune when the DCX is plugged into my car. Is there a way to remove these custom tunes from the tuner?

its ok to do it that way with i-1000/I-1000-dcx.

since this is about tunes, now that I have been trying different parameters and have questions (that I will ask in more appropriate threads), can I copy and paste or better yet, save a tune that I create with the i2, and call it up whenever I want? I see back up tune and last written tune in the tunes folder.

For example, if I have a certain octane tune like the 87 octane tune, and set certain parameters to it, and then have a 91 octane tune that has different parameters set to that, can i save them and call them up when I want instead of changing the tune and then going through and changing the parameters every time?
