MPG Booster tune seems to be best

Post by Hemi1014 »

Good Afternoon,

I have used the predator a few years now and have used all of the tunes. I have been on this forum for 5 years and read all of the discussions regarding knock, adding fuel, the importance of a catch can, shell gas is no good, CMR tune, etc.

Oddly enough my RT still seems to respond best to the MPG booster tune and stock tune (I always use premium). It seems to have more low end pull and more linear power compared to the 91 and 93 tunes. The 91 and 93 tunes do not seem to pull as hard specifically from about 2K-3.5K rpm. I’m guessing they may pull a bit harder in the high rpm range, but it is hard to tell. I have logged for knock awhile back and only saw brief blips at only at WOT on the 91 and 93 tune. I even added a catch can a couple years ago and tried the Nas Nitromethane octane booster. My questions are below:

1. Does DS tend to see more gains in the upper rpms compared to lower rpms pertaining to the performance tunes?

2. Does DS significantly change timing in the MPG booster tune that may decrease overall horsepower compared to stock? Although I’m pretty happy with this tune I would like to know if HP settings are “Detuned” to run 87.

3. Is it worth getting a CMR tune even though I only have a CAI and catch can at this point? I’m considering a corsa catback in the near future and maybe headers.

Thanks in advance!
