MY TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER DESTROYED

Post by USMC devil »

I don't know if the Intune caused this or not but I will say I run the 91 program on my 2014 Silverado 1500 and I thought it was shifting awfully hard, I didn't change anything it was diablos stock tune. I had just broke 35,000 miles so i guess it could be a coincidence but I don't think so, I won't be using the tuner any longer, unless someone can convince me it's not what caused my issue. I got the truck at 23,000 miles and started running the Intune about 28,000

With that said the dealership of course was in touch with GM and for 3 days GM asked the techs for data on this and that and I just knew they were gonna see that the truck had been flashed at some point but they didn't, I changed it back to stock before taking it in, and I don't know if they specifically looked for that but I do know they were downloading tons of data and sending it to them.. With that said, that's great because I was scared to death my extended warranty wasn't going to cover this, I never got a check engine light, just felt like the truck was missing (but only at low RPM and it didn't matter what gear) and then after a couple of days of just that it started to shutter periodically as well (felt like running over those safety bumps when you cross the line on the side of the road) so did the in tune cause this I gotta go with yes but could GM see it I gotta go with no.. So they are giving me a brand new torque converter and a brand new transmission and that's great but it's been 2 weeks without my truck and they told me today it will be atleast another week.. So that BLOWS.. And comments or opinions would be appreciated, I attached some photos of what the dealer sent me. As they went through the transmission to find the problem, he said several clutches were smoked!

Id see if Blackbear could tune you. Knowing what I do now about how problematic the intune is and how hard it is to get help here, I would of never bought this. Blackbear seems to be the better option.

Well, in all honesty theres nothing you can really do to the tcm tune that could cause that sort of damage.
There had to be a mechanical failure here.
We have a 14 Sierra thats been tuned since day one (less than 100 miles when it went on the dyno) and it lives an abused life, and has not had an issue.
Same for the thousands of other 08+ GM trucks we have tuned with the same T43/6L80 combo, so I cant see this being tune related at all.

Sorry to hear it happened at all, its a bummer of a situation.
