Can't Update U7135

Post by CDeLo17 »

Hey everyone,

Just hoping to get some help with this issue I ran into. I recently got my hands on a new cam, supporting mods, headers, mids, and got things like a 180 degree Tstat. I needed a tuner that I could use to get a tune for these installed to, but didn't wanna scare my wallet any more.

In the end, I got my hands on a U7135 unmarried with what I think was a build date of 08' (can't remember for certain, but I believe that is what it said). Anyhow, I plugged it in and made sure it wasn't married and to make sure the functions worked. When I went to plug it into my 05' Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L, I got the message: Tool does not support Calid: 56044555AN Tool Update might be available.

I figured no biggie, went online and got the DS Installer. Hooked up my Predator and searched for the latest CROM file I could utilize. I tried downloading the 9r-28 Crom file and got the renowned "Application is missing or corrupt" message.

I am fine with computers, so I didn't think anything of it. I found the 12 step instructions on how to connect it via Legacy Connect and made sure my driver was at 115200 and it was connected to the right port. I followed the instructions and got it to say "Downloading Bootloader," but it would get so close to the end and fail. I could NOT however, complete step 12 of the instructions. The step says to close out of the "File 2 of XXXX" immediately and start over, but the installer would basically crash from there if I did that and said it could not connect with the port.

I tried with all of the CROM files I could find including 18, 29, and 30 as well as 28 which would get me the furthest into the transfer, then fail. I spent about two hours trying different methods and exploring the forums. For now, I want to be able to use a canned tune for 93, CAI, Tstat, bigger tire size, etc.

I have not tried another computer, though I figure mine is more then capable. I have not tried reinstalling the installer, I have not found anyone recommending that or saying it works. Some make it out to seem like I need the 9r-12 CROM, but I cannot find it.

I hope there is a solution that I am missing and hope that it isn't too much trouble for any support. I called DS tech and was on hold for over an hour, I assume they were just very busy so I thought I would post here and hope in due time this can be answered. I'll post the instructions I followed down below :

1. Connect your USB-to-Serial cable to your computer with your Predator connected, but do not power on the Predator
2. Open DSdownloader
3. Make sure Predator, U7137, and All versions is selected on the Tool Communications Configuration window.
4. Select Accept Modifications button
5. On the main DiabloSport Downloader 2.2.1.9 window, select the Options drop down menu
6. Uncheck Auto-Connect and Check Legacy-Connect
7. Select the correct COM port under the File, Options, and Help drop-down menus at the top of the window. Ensure a baud rate of 115200 is selected
8. Select the Express Tune Mode Tab at the bottom of the window
9. Select the Update Tool button, browse to the new crom file, and double mouse click it or select open.
10. When the message pops up to power cycle the predator do it
11. When the windows pops up asking if you want to download the update select yes
12. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO GET BY THE PROBLEM EVERYONE IS HAVING WITH THE “Missing application or Corrupt file, close the update window IMMEDIATELY and restart from step 9

Thanks for everyone's time in reading this!
