Reducing or eliminating the throttle close on shift?

Post by Brad_1983 »

On my 2015 silverado 5.3, it sure seems like the throttle fully closes then opens back up when a shift occurs. I assume this is part of the torque management system or something. I, of course, have torque management "off" in my tune, but I'm not sure what exactly that does because it didn't seem to do anything. Every time my truck shifts, it feels like I've fully let off the throttle and then got back on it. You can feel yourself lurch forward and then back.

All this to say... any chance that "feature" can be turned off? Can that be added into a tune to reduce or eliminate those shenanigans?

it doesn't close the throttle.. it pulls out timing during a shift, so it doesn't SLAM/BANG into gear...

Isn't that kind of the point for having firm and hard shift programs? Even if you forget about that for a moment, every other vehicle I've owned has shifted up the gears in a continuous way. Not a start, accelerate, damn near stop, shift, start again type of way. If it's truely just the timing, any chance this severe timing retardation can be reduced? I know I'm not the only person experiencing this trans behavior. This would be a major plus in my book if this feature or something like it was included in the tuning options.
