Possible fix

Post by Guy »

Hi folks sorry if this has come up before,
Got a Dodge Challenger Rt 2013, bought the trinity tuner to try and free up a bit more hp
Had a little trouble trying to update it as I'm running on mac,
So thought I would have a go at writing the top tune that came as standard to the car see if that helped performance.
Wrote the 93 octane to the car which is what is showing when I go into the tuner now with +quick adjust as i wanted to add a bit more throttle response. Was ok with this tune and seemed to improve on the hp front.

I have recently added a borla exhaust and k&n cold air which seems to have made a few flat spots at low rev range, possibly due to the k&n?

So I figured to update the tuner now I've found a window based op system to work on, the problem is occurring when I try to restore the original backup to the car (which needs to be done in order to update the trinity)

I sit in the car and follow all the prompts but after the 2 writing to car cycles when it asks me to turn the key to off, when I do nothing else is happening it seems to be stuck on the screen saying turn key to off. I've tried it several times with the same result. Any help on this would be welcome, as I can't move forward on getting the car running smooth. I'm in the uk so not even sure I could find anyone local or regional who deals in mapping American stuff.

Thanks

have you removed the push button and inserted the key?
If not, thats the fix, the push button does not generally agree with programming on the 08-14 models.

Thanks for the response, I think I tried with just the key but will give it another go to make sure. Hopefully it's just this and it gets sorted

Just tried again with only key inserted from start to finish, still getting the same result.
Just sticks on the turn key off screen everything goes dead until I unplug and open and close the door then I'm able to restart the car engine. Would it have a problem putting original map back on due to stock air no longer being on the car? Or is there a way to modify the tune to be able to get rid of the flat spot. Kinda stuck I guess

try leaving the door open.

Also, try going to the quick adjust menu and select restore quick adjust, and then try reloading the stock tune.

Had a bit of a trawl through the forum last night and noticed someone had had similar problems and solved by resetting the quick adjust first, just been back through it and everything went smooth this time. Original backup back on car and diablo now updating. Much thanks for your help. Once I've updated the diablo is there a preferred map that will help with the aftermarket CAI.? Any advice on getting the best out of the car is welcome. I was considering putting 90mm throttle body on it next to try and smooth things out.

the CAI shouldnt reqire any changes ideally.

I would suggest not doing a TB, as I see many of them lead to driveability issues, and then you have to pay someone to tune it to work, and in the end you might gain like 3 rwhp on a stockish car...
