1st Impression

Post by priceranch »

Just tuned my 14 Silverado for the first time with the inTune and drove it 15 miles.

I am most interested in improving the drivability of the truck. I have never been happy with the transmission. I live in a hilly/mountainous area and whenever climbing the mountain to get home, the tranny always seems to hesitate and have difficulty determining which gear to be in, particularly when accelerating out of tight turns.

And I am and have always been a horsepower junkie, I've always had muscle cars and still have a C5 Camaro SS that's not quite stock. :D

With that being said, my first impression is very positive! I tuned the 91 octane with AFM disabled, firm shifts, and adjusted for tire size. The truck is leveled with a 2" kit and has 305/55/20 Toyo tires (which are pretty heavy), a K&N filter and Flowmaster cat-back. The throttle response is greatly improved, but most importantly the tranny feels much more positive with firm, but not harsh, shifts and it holds in gear for a longer period of time which is very helpful in the area I live in. I tow a 6K lb boat frequently and I'm looking forward to the improved towing ability.

Next step will be a Diablew tune!

I also posted this in silveradosierra forum in case it looks familiar to anyone!

2nd impression:

With a little over 100 miles on the tune, the truck has really smoothed out. The combo of a little more power with improved throttle response and a transmission that is operating much more efficiently has me very pleased and wishing I'd done this much sooner!
