Need help with new trinity

I just bought a trinity T2 platinum thru a friend of mine for my Dodge Ram and didn’t know a lot about diablo to be honest until I watched a few videos.
Now I’m not sure if I can even use it because I didn’t know it’s specific to each vehicle.
Since this was briefly used by someone else can I not plug it into mine ?
I have a 2012 ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi, and the original owner had a 2010 ram 2500 5.7 hemi
My tuner I bought is a trinity T2 EX platinum Chrysler # 9345

I guess my real question is can I just plug this in and load a tune or do I need to register it somehow in my name to use it

As long as he returned his vehicle to stock, yes yo can hook it up and tune away.
Cant hurt to update it first.
