Factory HP tune speedometer indications.

Post by sheriffray »

2002 Mustang GT w/3.73 differential gears, Predator U7146 r50d.
When loading the Factory HP tune (with Axle Ratio or Tire Size parameters modified) the tune loads, but there is no change in the speedometer indication. When loading the Diablo Tune modifying these parameters does affect speedometer indication. I would like to be able to use the Factory HP tune with modified parameters. Can you help?

Ok, I think I can help you here. It will be a bit involved, but not impossible.
What you wil lneed to do is save a copy of your original backup file to your PC.
Then, you will import this tune from your PC to your Predator as a custom tune.
Once the tune is loaded as a custom tune, you can modify this tune however you like through the Predator, without applying any of our power tuning.

Let me know if you need any help with this.

Mike, I think we are on the right track. I've aquired all the cables I needed and exported the factory tune. When I import it back to the predator I get a "File format not Recognized." message on the predator and download complete message on the computer. FYI The file name for the factory tune is - rvaf1t4.frg - Is this correct or did I goof something?

OK, we are still talking about a U7146 here correct?
If so, make sure you have 57600 set as the baud rate and you have the proper COM port selected.

Thanks

- Update -

I figured out the import "file not recognized" problem. I had to unclick the data compression check mark at the top and the Predator took it with no problems.

Now a new problem. the factory imported tune now shows up as "Custom tune" on the predator and I installed it. However, after driving the car, the speedometer is still off by 15 mph. Set the gear ratio on the custom tune to 4.10's but it doesn't seem to have fixed the speedo.

Any suggestions?

I do not see why this will not work, but I have an answer....
email me a copy of your original backup file to [email protected]
I will have it modified for you and send it back to fix the speedo only for your 4.10's.

Thanks

Mike,

How's it going? I sent you my tune some time ago, but I never heard back from you. I would really like to get this speedo fixed.
Thanks again,
Craig

Mike,
I just got around to trying the original backup file to custom tune file transfer, but it did not solve the speedometer indication issue for me either. Should I email the file to you?
Also, when data logging/viewing with the Predator Performance tune LONG FT1 and LONG FT2 stay at 0%. They do not change at all. All other data is normal. Does the Performance tune use Long Term Tables?
Thanks,
Gerald
