Bad detonation with 87 octane tune

I ordered the CRC Cleaner yesterday and is supposed to come in this morning. I will try it at lunch and see if it clears it up.

Dude! I think that was my whole problem. I don't notice any pinging anymore and it is idling more smoothly. I am not positive yet, but I am pretty sure that is what has been driving me crazy all this time.

You may have an intake manifold leak (small) that may be contributing the the code and the detonation. I've seen this happen a few times. Dealer couldn't fix it. Take some starting fluid and spray litghtly around the gaskets if the idle raises there's your issue. Also check your coal canister lines... .02

I'm going to try the cleaner hope this weekend and will let you know how it works. It was 94 degrees today and it ran fine with a IAT 155-165 while sitting and about 85-90 while moving. The cold air kit from the lower front of the truck really works good. Also going to put exhaust on it in 2 weeks.

Just woundering if your C.A.I uses oil on the filter if so you may want to clean your maf sensor, oil can get on the diodes and cause this problem, it happened to me and now my truck runs great, if you do clean it be very carefull not to damage it though, their sensitive little guys, and yes please stop using shell fuel everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where did you order that CRC cleaner? Just want to know because I never had pinging with stock, 87 tune, or 91 tune (running 91 octane), but now all of the sudden i'm getting ping action above 5k rpm

If I installed a K&N is that where the MAF sensor is that I need to clean

I got the can of CRC MAF cleaner at my local auto parts store... Napa, Autozone, etc etc should have it...

as for where the MAF is, it's a round hard plastic housing - it'll be connected to the hose between the throttle body and the air filter, and it has a plug going to it...

you need to unplug it from the harness, and undo the hose clamps on both ends - remove it from the truck, spray the inside of it good with the CRC MAF cleaner, wave it around a minute to help the cleaner flash/dry off, then put it all back together in the truck, and snap the plug back on.

Fire it up and take a rip!
