2008 RT won't shift 2-3

My buddy has an 08' RT with CAI and a Borla catback. We installed the 93 CAI canned tune a couple nights ago. All seemed fine but when we finally ran it at the track, it won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear with raised shift points and increased shift firmness installed. We raised the rev limit in drive to +600 and raised his shift point to 6K. He says it's not bouncing off the rev limit. It's actually hanging up at the shift point + about 1-200 rpm. When we drop back to stock shift point, it shifts fine albeit slower. He came super close to running in the 13's today in 90+ degree heat but the damn thing wouldn't shift. Any ideas??

I don't understand what you mean by mode 2. This is happening with the trans in drive as well as auto stick. I don't think mode 2 has anything to do with it not shifting in drive does it? It seems as if theis car does not like the raised shift point as well as the increased shift firmness.

The shift parameters are setting the operating mode for the TCM (through the PCM). It effects the operation of your transmission in general. Pick the wrong mode and some cars don't shift at all, some go into trans limp mode, whatever.

But the 08's upshift in autostick already don't they? We didn't even go into autostick settings when we installed the predator. Whatever they were set at is how we ran it. I'm confused as to why a wrong autstick setting could effect how it shifts (or if it shifts at all) in drive. Not disagreeing with you, just confused is all.

This has been a problem with some 08's all along. They will not shift using raised shift points. It does not have anything to do with the mode setting. I have been asking to get it fixed but they say they don't have the time to fool with this issue for now. Do a search. It has been talked about many times.

It is an 08 only problem. It will shift but the shift is delayed at WOT. If you back off on the gas just a bit it will shift sooner. I've not tried the autostick modes yet to see if I can manually shift it faster. I doubt it will work though because upshifting with the autostick is always delayed anyway.

i think i have a similar problem...

i have a afe stg 2 and predator...loaded 91 cai tune

when im at wot going from 2nd-3rd...it will lag like 1k rpm...unless i get out of the gas a little and it will shift....it did this without the predator as well...of course dealer is worthless.

heres what i modified

shift firmness
fan settings
auto upshift is still on should i just turn it off and get used to it like that ?

i have a 05 mag rt btw.

Try restoring the shift firmness to stock and see if this corrects the issue...

i still have to let off the gas in wot to get it to shift into 3rd before autostick shifts.
