My truck was flashed and now shows Calibration ID VXAP2N2

Post by Jbullfrog »

I took my truck in to get the egr cooler coupler replaced and specifically told the service writer not to flash it. The tech wanted the extra warranty time and did it anyway. What do I need to do to be able to use my Predator again? The service writer said they would make it right, since I specifically said not to flash my truck.

this is why even in the manual it says that you should restore your original backup before bringing it in for any type of service. They may run into an issue that isn't anticipated and HAVE to do a reflash/update, so it's better to be safe than sorry. It makes it a big hassle to have to deal with it after the fact now...

Mike or Johan should have some info for ya soon here, but it may have to be reset in order to read in the new flash and calibration ID to be able to work with your truck, but I'm not 100% sure.

Have you tried connecting the Predator and seeing if it can read the newly flashed PCM??

Have you tried to just reinstall the tune you had in there, or to restore your original backup? If it can't do it because of the reflash, it'll give you an error message and nothing should happen - if it can't read it, it can't do anything. But I'm no expert with this type of issue, so you may want to wait until Mike or Johan chimes in.

You will need to fax a copy of your Invoice where Ford reflashed your PCM to Tech Support at 561 908 0051 then give Tech Support a call at 561 908 0040 and they will be able to get you up and running again. Since Ford reflashed your PCM you will most likely need to update your Predator to the latest revision for it to work on the new Calibration too.
Thank You

The fax number here is 561-908-0048.
Please have the Predator powered up when you call after faxing the work order.

OK, I called and got my Predator reset.
I downloaded r14

What now?

Thanks Mike, The new injector heating flash is from mid February 07. I noticed the r14 was last updated in March of 06.

Any idea when the new program will be out? The factory shifting is terrible compared to the 65Hp tune I have been running for the last year.

I made all new tunes last week for the VXAP2 and did over 600 miles for fuel economy testing and are very please with the results where the stock VXAP2 got around 13 MPG and with the new 65hp tune we got over 17 MPG at a speed of 70 MPH with the cruise on for over 175 miles probably will be difrent from truck to truck and states has here in florida is all fat ground, working on some 04-07 stuff as well the 6.0 van and maybe adding trany control for customers on our new R-15 {not 100% sure} as well new tunes for all the old calibrations, we do not have a set date but we are hopping in the next few month

Hey, I believe it's been about 2 week since I posted the same problem with my programmer cal-id VXAP2N2 which has the v8r14 update, and you said there should be a new update by about this time. Since your making it sound like you you guys have never heard of this problem, I'm guessing that there has been no progress in a new update to fix this problem yet? Come on guys I know it's just a big diesel truck programmer but driving this truck around with a 6" lift and 35" tires really suck ass with the factory tune.

Exactly how far out is the "near future"? My brakes are getting over stressed, and my truck is sucking fuel with the factory program.

WAIT< > Hold everything! a month ago I was told you are working on a update that it should only be a few weeks. This was told to me in a forum and 2 times on the phone. Now over 30 days later you are stating "we do not have a set date but we are hopping in the next few month" Now you are saying it will be a few months? Then I read where you say "working on some 04-07 stuff as well the 6.0 van and maybe adding trany control for customers on our new R-15" This is CRAP release the updated tune for us that are stuck in the mud and put that other tranns control and other upgrades in another release. This is getting old! Time to step up and tell us what is really going on. I can at least respect that and work with HONEST time frames. I will not wait for more deception and wishy washy answers. Ball in your court on how to treat your customers! Let see what you do with it!
