Writing CROM to Predator U7165 gets to 2 packets then fails.

Post by bellcraft »

I have a U7165 Predator for a Ford Diesel f350, I am trying to update the predator to R10, hyper terminal will talk to the predator, then I went ahead to update the predator and it got 2 packets wrote and says that the it failed, data transmission fails or something to that effect. I am using a standard 9 pin serial cable. NOT USB to Serial or any of that. COM1 which is where hyperterminal sees the predator, is set to 115200 as it should be, so is the DSdownloader program set to the same, since the failed write, the predator has the missing or corrupt message now and the work around for this is doing the same failed to write again. What should I do?

i think i saw somewhere on that you should Not use that port #..not sure why.You may want to look into it.You also could try and see if someone has a copy of the crom file that you were currently using, until you can get another one .Have you tried connecting with another port number.?

yeah I've tried ports 1-4 and with no luck, I've tried different baud speeds as well. I don't know where I can get another copy of the crom file though. Would it really be that the file is corrupt and the predator can't write because of that?

Your Com port is correct. What i need you to do is check the bootloader of the predator when you first power it up. It will say booting "power_6_0" or booting "pcm_6_0".... please let me know what it says when booting please. If its "power_6_0" then r10 is required ... if its "pcm_6_0" then you will need to download the 9r04 crom.

If the bootloader says" ford_6_0 "then its a U7160 part #.
