I realize this topic has been covered ad naseum, but there are tons of opinions floating around so I am asking the experts (Johan and MikeL):
Do raised shift points make any difference in performance for a 5.7 with a few bolt-ons? I have run across posts where folks are convinced that raised shift points alone helped them pick up a tenth at the track, and others say their car feels "gutless" shifting at 6K.
Other posts say that on the street the shift points give them an advantage by holding the gears longer....and when it shifts to the next gear they are more in the powerband of the Hemi.
I am all about performance -- if the raised shift points do not give any benefit on a bolt-on 5.7, then I will stick with the stock shift points. Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me.

RE: Shift Points
Only way to determine if the raised shift points are right for you is to run it down the track a few times...

RE: Shift Points
I rised my shift points a little by timing my shifts with mode 1 (no automatic upshift) in autostick mode. I noticed that stock it shifts a little early for the power band (5500) so I shift it around 5800 or close to 6000 but not quite there. Just before the red. The shift is a little stronger than the stock shift. I think I'm a little faster but I've not taken it to the track yet to prove it.
Re: RE: Shift Points
Last night I did a very un-scientific (non-track) comparison with 6k shift points vs. stock shift points in the 300c. Long story short, I changed back to stock shift points after about 30 mins.mikel wrote:Only way to determine if the raised shift points are right for you is to run it down the track a few times...
After hitting 5800-5900 rpm, I could tell the motor had run out of steam.....and the sound of the motor at 6k -- good lord -- sounded like I was pushing it way too hard.
I will stick with the stock shift points.

I ran at the track both stock shifting and raised, and raised gained me 2 tenth at the 1/4 mile.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Shift Points
This has always been true with the 5.7 since they came out in 2005. Some people want to argue that there is no benifit to raised shift ponts but there are a lot of posts on a lot of forums to back it up that it does increase performance. The track tells more than the dyno when it comes to actual et's and making you car faster.05MAGNUMRT wrote:I ran at the track both stock shifting and raised, and raised gained me 2 tenth at the 1/4 mile.
