Anyone have any experience with high flow cats?

Post by geogasm »

I was thinking of buying a pair of Magnaflow high flow cats made for my 07 msrt8
Was wondering if anyone has used them and some feed back from you guys. And if I put these on will I start throwing exhaust codes?

Not sure how they'll work on an SRT8 but ive got them on my ram and im not throwing codes. As long as you have your 02 sensors plugged in, you should be fine.

the high flows should not throw any codes, they will not really gain you any power either.
Save your money for a cam, aside from the predator and an air intake it is by far the best bang for the buck for either the 5.7L and the 6.1L

Not necessarily. ON the SRT8s every set of headers throws a code because of the rear O2s. I'm thinking the midpipes may do the same. Sure you could turn them off, but once you need an inspection where they plug into the OBD-2 port, then you're screwed, because the sensors come up as "Not Ready" and you fail.

Thanks for all your help. I guess last question would be since I don't want to go into the motor just yet, what headers do you recommend and if I change them will I get codes and how do I get around passing emissions when time comes (Mike Levy)
And does anyone else get that rotten egg smell from your cats. when you are stomping on it?? I used to get that smell with my durango and i changed the cat. and it was gone. Thanks again

I have the Magnaflow HF cats on my 07 300C SRT8. They always throw the code - even when the Predator is used to disable them. I can reset the code, but it comes right back within a day.

I do know many others that have them without throwing any codes.

I love the nice bark that they add to my Corsa exhaust, so I just live with the codes. I still have the factory cats that I'll put back on when it is time to get smog tested (and hopefully I have my CARB sticker from Vortech by then too.. :D ).
