stage 2.5 srt4 with DS?

Post by 3chord »

I just picked up a DS (It's en-route as I write this)

I have a quaife-equipped 03, with 04 injectors. No balance shafts, ported stock turbo housing, fuel pump rewire, stage 1 ecu and stage 2 wastegate.

What I'd like to do is put my old 03 ecu back in, leave the s2 wga installed, and push the turbo as much as possible. Because it's ported, I'm thinking I can push it more than a usual stocker (I'm thinking 22-23 psi).

A few questions-

1. Is the ported housing good for 22-23psi or does it not improve the efficiency of the stock center section

2. In order to get that high of boost (PCM controlled) do I need to get a 3-bar map sensor?

3. What about a tip sensor, would I also need to get a 3-bar tip as well?

4. Will the 04/05 injectors flow enough fuel for 23 psi, or will I need to go with the stage 2 injectors? The reason I ask is I heard that the true mopar stage 2 setup is way too rich...so much so that they use the same injectors in stage 3.

Sorry for all thew questions, but I think a lot of people are going to try to use the DS in this type of setup (eg emulating mopar stage 2)

1.yes u can push the ported stock to 22-25
2.yes u will need a 3 bar map and tip to be able to read that high
3.u will need atlease S2 inj for that much boost or u can get a returnline instead but S2 inj are cheaper

Ok cool thanks. Just to be clear though it's not an SST or E1/E2 it's just the ported housing like what FullyBuilt did (Before they closed up shop)

I have one other question (sorry)

I'm still trying to get my head around what is a physical vs programmatical limitation.

I've got a S2 WGA. Mopar tells us that we need a stronger WGA (eg S2) to hold for more pressure. I've now heard that you can get just about as much boost as you want just by playing with the duty cycle.

I guess what I was wondering is what kind of boost can the stock WGA adjust up to? I'm guessing that 100% DC is going to be less than 100% DC with a s2 WGA (Or some other aftermarket WGA)

Also, does the WGA control the boost curve, or is that all under the PCM control?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions

It all depends on the turbo size and manifold configuration... Most stockers will do 20-21 some will do more depending on the condition of the system. The stock turbo runs out of steam at about 19-20 so there's no real reason to puch it anymore unless you like replacing the cartridge... I've seen the ported systems and eveyrthing else and I'm sure they're good for a little bit here and there but I have yet to see any accurate test results comparing before and after to prove that they are beneficial.
