Predator U7146 File Transfer Problems

I am having trouble transferring original backup/extra tune to my PC. I am using com port and pwr supply for the predator.
I have downloaded DS Downloader, CMR_DAT_200_Installer, and mustang-7r50d.crom. I also downloaded the manuals but can't make sense of them. I checked the comport in hardware properties, changed the baud, etc, etc...
When I attempt to export original backup to PC using DS Downloader, the Predator shows an empty progress bar in the sending function then I get a msg "transfer failed". I need to email the file but can't get it to my PC.
What am I doing wrong???

Are you using a serial - serial cable or serial - USB cable? Both will work but I think the serial - USB works better.

If using the serial - serial cable, try booting the tool, connecting the cable then reboot the pc.

Most serial ports initilize at bootup and unless a device is attached at that time the port does not think anything is attached and will not connect.

If using the Serial - USB cable, just connect the cable to the pc and wait for it to initilize then boot the tool and connect it to the cable. Then go to the port settings in Control Panel and find the port the USB cable is assigned. Change the DSDownloader to this port and download your file.

Hi - I am still having problems transferring the file from the predator to my PC. I bought a USB->Serial cable and downloaded a driver - that won't work either. Surely, I am missing something!! I tried LightningMike's suggestion

Did you look in the device manager and see what COM port the cable is assigned to?
You need to set the baud rate for this COM port as well to 57600.
Make sure the COM port settings on the DSDownloader are set to the same port and 57600.

Hey twiggy did you check to make sure the com port or ports are not shut off in the computer bios? you have to make sure its set up in bios if the settings in bios are diffrent then the ones in windows it will not work...they must be enabled and if there is a setting to select the IRQ number and the broad rate they must be the same in windows as well.. typical settings are IRQ 4 FOR COMP PORTS 1 AND 3 and IRQ 2 FOR COM PORTS 2 AND 4.

set the speed of the com port aka broad rate to 57600 like mikel says
bios setup can be enterd via a hot key during windows boot up before the windows logo appears.

most of the time its either the f1 key, delete key, tab key, f10 key depending on the computer manufacturer and bios manufacturer.

i had this issue before and i had to go into my bios and change my settings.
more then likely the com ports are disabled in bios because their rarely used these days. and if their disabled in bios windows will still detect them but not tell you their not working unless you look for it.

Guys,
I went into the bios and the com port was set to AUTO. I changed it to COM1. There didn't seem to be options for settings there. I booted up. The problem I have been having is when I go into DSDL, set up the predator to send, and click on "get tune file from predator", a window blinks for a millisecond and nothing happens. I set the baud to 57600 and the comport to COM1. I looked at properties and the settings match what grimwolf and Mikel said they should be. Try to respond via this medium one more time - if it doesn't work, I will call as Mikel suggested.

twiggy if you have more then one serial port on the back of the computer try useing the other port that you didnt plug the tool into...but make sure you enable all the serial com ports in bios typicaly there are two in your bios settings so enable them both and then you can try each port.
turn pc off
plug in tool
boot pc
try to make it work useing the software make sure the settings are the same in the soft ware for com port and speed. if that first one does not work turn off the pc unplug the tool from the that serial connection then reconnect it to the other serial connection then reboot the pc and try again.
if that dont work call mikel maybe ithere is somthing that m missing
