97 Powestroke Chip ?

Hey VERY new at this . I have a 97 powerstroke that I just recently purchased. It has a diablo chip behind the emergency brake. I'm not sure which chip it is i'm pretty sure it said 3 bank on it but not postive. The guy I bought the truck off of said that sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. He had asked someone about it and they told him to take the chip out and clean it. I pulled it out the other day and it was clean but it dosen't seem to be working. He said that when it works it is very noticable as far as power and heavy black smoke. He said it was a 30 horse chip. Does anyone no what chip this is and is the chip ajustable and who would I see as far as trouble shooting the chip to see if it's bad. As far as mods it is bone stock besides the chip. Do I need to stay with the 30 horse setting once or if I can get it to work. It is a driver for me I don't really pull anything I just wanted to get the most power with what I have. Any help would be app.... thanks

Well, chips generalyl work or they dont, not common for them to be intermittent...

Sounds like one of our older Delta chips, not too many places that still flash them.

Not much troubleshooting that can be done as it is not under warranty, but if it plugs into the truck and it runs, then it is fine and can be reflashed if you like.
