trinity comparison

Post by GRI »

OK. So i have been considering buying the Trinity and have asked some questions on here and based on those answers and compared to products out already I have come up with a conlclusion.

Now Trinity does have most beat by price.

But Bully dogs PMT can do everything the Trinity can do and still change on the fly and defuel the truck when it gets to unsafe levels
as can the Banks six gun power PDA.

Not trying to be a jerk but how can you advertise that the Trinity is the most advanced tuner out there when there are others that seem to be more advanced?

These features are on the Trinity TODO list, but are going to be a ways down the development pipeline. What we plan to do with Trinity is FAR greater than what will be in the software for the very first release. Strictly as a hardware platform, Trinity IS by far the most advanced.

I was avoiding this for a reason...I thought you were talking about something that I was not familiar with, but now that you've prompted me to search, are you really comparing Trinity to this:
http://www.bullydog.com/product/index/p ... detail/143

Lets see, the ~$800 Trinity vs. the $1175 PMT, OK, here goes:

The PMT allows you to monitor up to a whopping 4 entire parameters at once...
Trinity will allow you to build layouts with up to 6 gauges per page, with up to 6 pages to scroll through on the fly, for up to 36 parameters at once. No comparison.

PMT Dodge Power:
# Tow (30 added HP approximately)
# Performance (75 added HP approximately)
# Extreme (115-140 added HP approximately)

Trinity Dodge Power:
Tow 65 HP
Econ/Perf 100 HP
Extreme Road Kill Larry 160 HP(03-05) 180 HP(06-07)
(custom tunes for up to 200 RWHP available for 03-05 trucks as well)
Looks like once again, no comparison.

PMT GM Power:
# Tow (30 added HP approximately)
# Performance (75 added HP approximately)
# Extreme (115-140 added HP approximately)(Not available for the LMM)

Trinity GM Power:
Tow 40 HP
Econ 65 HP
Perf 85 HP
Extreme 120 (100 in LMM)

We win again, this is fun!

PMT Ford Power:
# Tow (30 added HP approximately)
# Performance (75 added HP approximately)
# Extreme (115-140 added HP approximately)

Trinity Ford Power:
6.0:
Tow 40 HP
Econ/Perf 65 HP
Extreme 100 HP

6.4:
Tow 30 HP
Econ 50 HP
Perf 80 HP
Extreme kill em all get the %#@& out the way 160 HP

Well, now I wonder how approximate their numbers are, since it is pretty scary making much more that 100 HP to the wheels on a stock, unstudded 6.0, maybe they are quoting flywheel numbers? All Trinity power levels are as measured at the rear wheels.

Now, lets cover supported applications:

PMT:
- Dodge 5.9L, 6.7L '03-'08
- Ford 6.0L, 6.4L '03-'08
- GM 6.6L '01-'08

Trinity:
Dodge 03-07 5.9
Ford 03-09 6.0/6.4
GM 01-09 6.6

PLUS:
05-09 HEMI gas LX/WK applications
03-05 Neon SRT4/PT GT turbo
...and thats just for starters.

Eventually the Trinity will support all vehicles currently supported by different Predator part numbers, and then some.
By the time the tool is released, it will likely also have support for the 05-up Mustangs and 04-08 F150s, maybe more.

Thanks
Mike

Scary larry tune for BD is 230hp so agian not better (funny you have larry in your tune as well)

dealer map for the PMT is $955

PMT can change tunes on the fly trinity cannot

ok 2 more gauges available for view is that really a big selling point? like 2 is a whopping big difference. the PMT can view all of the same parameters the trinity can.
the PMT can also change gauges on the fly but when would you do that? really?
the only thing I see the trinity being better at is eye candy. functionality it isnt any better than the PMT.

alll BD numbers are rear wheel measured just like every other company

Not bashing just weighing options. switch on the fly for me is a big selling point.

the PMT will also defuel when parameters get in an unsafe range. again a huge feature

the PMT also has data graph sheets

I'll line a Road Kill Larry tune up against any other 'tune only' Cummins on the planet and run them down the strip, we wont be beat...claimed numbers are only worth so much, our RKL tunes are untouchable in the performance department.

then all the cummins forum people would be running it. which I dont see.

dyno numbers show smarty and BD pulling highe rnumbers

dont take this stuff so personal. every programmer has advantages and disadvantages.

when I see things that say industry leading and so forth, I like to see the facts and compare them.

for the money the predator and trinity are a good buy for power to cost ratio. but I think they fall short on what others offer. thats all.

I hear what you are saying, but I believe that a big reason that more people seem to be running those tunes is due ot some of the marketing hype created around them.

We have had dealers do side by side comparisons of 2 trucks, run one with our RKL vs the BD, then switch tunes/switch trucks and run them again, in 2 separate instances, the RKL tune beat the BD tune in both trucks....

there is more than just being fast too.

egts, tranny slip, boost ect.

you can be faster but how many times?

you guys make a good product, no doubt. but with all the hype about the trinity I would expect it to do all and more than stuff thats been out for over a year

1 other question. how do you guys get away with still offering the RKL tune? BD had to remove their scarry larry tune because of the EPA board or something like that. File for scarry lary is still available but not from BD. just curious

We are aware that there are some BIG changes coming in the diesel industry.
It happens that one of our owners does calibration work for the EPA in his spare time, and they have seen our tunes.
Apparently, they are not as 'unclean' as many would like to think they are.
What I want to know, is how are other companies still doing DPF delete tunes....?

With all this talk about deisel. I have a 06 Grand Cherokee SRT8 and am thinking about getting the Trinity. I do have a few questions.
What I would like is something that can hold atleast 4 different options. I want to set one for a tame gas saver in city driving, one for gas saver highway driving, one for fast street racing, and another for super fast drag strip racing.... Or something of the sort.

I don't need to switch on the fly. Although that would be awsome, if it caused problems I'd be ok shutting the engine off to reload. Also what kind of load time is it to switch downloaded programs?

Will this Trinity store multiple downloads and allow me to switch between them as I wish without causing harm to my computer?

Does your company offer these different downloads for the trinity?
