Smarty vs Predator

Post by Cookiemanster »

Hello all: Just recently installed a Predator on my 06 3500 automatic, I got rid of the Smarty I had because of the excessive smoke and lazy midrange and I was experiencing inconsistent transmission shift qualities. My mileage is up considerably with the Predator on perf mode and it runs like a scalded dog now, my buddy with his SRT8 Chrysler 300 was VERY impressed.
Nice product and best bang for the buck out there.
I'm also experiencing that intermittent kick while driving, almost feels like the converter unlocking/locking, it only seems to happen when I'm on the highway in cruise when a hill comes up.

Cool cool, good to hear. We are working on the surge issue and hoping for some sort of update this week.

Concerning the intermittent kick while driving: I had the same problem so I unplugged the preditor. It did it a few more times. Turns out that i torched my tranny. Specifically, they had to replace the 3rd gear and overdrive clutch pads as they were burnt. I had quite a bit of smoke using the Preditor, especially when I was hauling my boat. As far as gas mileage goes, the guage did say I was getting about 4 mpg better but it turned out to be completely inaccurate. In fact, mileage went down slightly. Make sure you do the math and don't rely on those guages.

I can easily slip my stock clutch even on the Performance setting. This thing makes some serious power and should be used carefully with the stock trans. I'm getting a new South Bend clutch this weekend that can handle the extra power. I can't wait.....
Everybody knows that the stock trans can really only handle about 70hp over stock. Anything more and the trans is just a timebomb ticking away.....

Here's hand calculated mileage vs the trip computer.

Distance driven 996kms/621 Miles
Trip computer reading 9.5L/100kms = 24.7mpg US = 29.7mpg Imp
Next fill was 120L to full = 31.7 Gals US = 26.4 Gals Imp
Actual mileage = 19.58Mpg US = 23.5Mpg Imp
This was a one day drive through the mountains, down some oilfield roads and home with a headwind all on the Perf tune.

wow that is some impressive numbers. I get maybe 700 km on a tank on highway. I might have reached 800 once driving pretty nice. Around 120km hr. Doing the math after the run the best I have seen is around 19mpg imperial. I have larger tires too 2 sizes bigger not sure the numbers, so my speedometer is prabably out a bit as well, it would show less km then actual Im thinking. I watch those numbers on the computer and it seems if I look that mpg in U.S. gal and use that number as imperial gals its pretty close.
