2006 C6 with Modified Exhaust and No Cats

I just purchased a 2006 Corvette with a manual transmission and the Z-51 options package over the internet. It also has a full aftermarket exhaust and air intake.

The problem is when it showed up I have been fixing everything that's wrong with it. New tires, brakes and a check engine light that won't go away...

The vette has a full aftermarket exhaust but... The Chevy dealer said that the Cats were removed and that the error codes that are showing are... 1) the Cats are removed (obviously) and 2) that the engine is running lean (according to them most likely from the headers and missing cats).

Thier recommendation was to just ignore the check engine light an enjoy the car. Seemed a little strange. I don't think the car is running to it's full potential and would like to figure out what is the best way to resolve it.

If I ordered a Predator would I be able to stop the error codes for the missing cats? And, would that get the computer back to running it's best with this combo or would I need a full computer program rewrite specifically for this car?

I am an old school car guy and the computer controls and all the new technology is foreign to me. My old project car is a 1972 Chevy Nova with a MSD ignition.... Much lower tech! So... Appreciate any and all input.

yes the predator will retune the car and give it more power. it will also get rid of the check engine light because of the cats are gone. 06montess will have to write u a tune that will remove it so the computer wont see em. he or diablo guys can also get u a tune thats made for headers and get ur car back to running stong. im sure they will shed more light on this but the predetor is a great hand held. its the best on the market hands down.

Yeah a big thumbs up for 06montess, he did a custom tune foe my 08 truck and she is a whole nother animal now.

yeah, the predator will definitely wake up your vette, but you'll need to get a custom tune made for ya to disable those trouble codes and the COT stuff...

Question... What is the advantages and/or disadvantages of using a hand held tuner with a custom tune like what 06MonteSS is talking about versus going to a local speed shop and getting a individual tune. I assume that the indivudual tune would be best but most expensive and i would not be able to play with it myself and learn. I have a laptop and am ok with computers but how do i learn about tuning my car and utilizing a custom tuner from the very beginning? I have no background in the two but am ok with carbs and old cars so I understand the principals and what I am trying to achieve utilizing the computer but no practical experience in blending the two.

well if u ever change anythign on ur car then ull have to go back to the shop and let them re do it all again. vs u send a log to monte or someone and they fix u a tune based on what ur car is tell them. like if ur car is rich at 2300 wot then theyll adjust it. i guess each one has there ups and down. but its up to the person. like me i got it cause of warrenty and now i got support back for the truck i dont need no more.
