Do i need thermostat
I have a 2009 dodge challenger r/t with a COA and the resonators on the back have been removed. I am running the 93 tune with a coa. Ive noticed that the fans seem to be running on high alot. Do I need to change the thermostat or can i leave the stock thermostat on?
RE: Do i need thermostat
The fan settings in the tunes are the stock settings.
If it didn't do this before then maybe your t-stat is sticking and not opening all the way.

RE: Do i need thermostat
so quick, question. Do I need to change the thermostat to the 180 Jet T stat or can i leave the stock one there without doing any damage to the car? I live in texas and its HOT!!!
RE: Do i need thermostat
The stock t-stat will not damage the car (and it doesn't matter how hot it is in texas -- see the other thread).
Unless they changed something for 2009 your t-stat is around 193*. I think the stock fan settings are around 200? and 220? Your engine is designed to run in the low 200s. One of the reaons is that part of the design constraints were for emissions. The PCM will start to pull timing/fuel/whatever above 190* so the engine makes a bit more power below that. That's why people go with a lower t-stat (and fan settings to match). I think as long as you're running your engine below about 350 it's not going to do any damage due to the heat.

I *believe* that's 250. don't want to go much above that before shutting her down.Quick wrote:The stock t-stat will not damage the car (and it doesn't matter how hot it is in texas -- see the other thread).
