u7194-9r05a on 08 Silverado, what octane?

Post by SiscoKid »

Whats up guys, 2 quick questions. First, what octane should I be running with the diablo tune on my truck, using 93. Second, Im towing a 20ft pontoon for about an hour or so to a local lake, am I able to keep the diablo tune in or should I reinstall the stock tune? Thanks...

Keep using the 93 if you can, and keep the tune in for towing. I pull a 23 foot fiberglass Gulf Coast bay boat 200 miles each way quite a bit and never have had a problem. A 20 foot crappie catcher is nothing as far as weight compared to what I am towing. Let it rip bud! What lake will you be fishing, and what are you targeting?

Diablo tune for trucks is made for 91+ octane, so 93 is fine.
As far a towing, hook on and let's go fishing.

You guys are awesome... Going for those Walleye on the Chain O Lakes in the northeast corner or IL. Im pretty pumped cus last season everything was all closed up for while due to major flooding in our area. Theyre calling for 70s, 5/10mph SSE winds, and its still pretty early in the season here so I shouldnt have too much boat traffic. Couldnt ask for a better day. Thanks again for the info guys...

OK so what about if I was to add a vette servo? Do you think that would be too much and Ill have to tune it back when I tow or will I still be good? Thanks...

IMO, spend the extra jack and get a shift kit if you are wanting a firmer shift. As far as tuning it back, you don't have TCM support so there is really nothing for you to mess with on the tranny.
